Turkish appliances manufacturer Arcelik, who are known as Beko in the UK, is expecting sales growth of around 20 percent this year, down from 22 percent last year, it said when announcing its annual results.

An inquest has heard that a senior executive of the Beko appliance company was not told of fears that a faulty cooker had killed a student until four months later.

Reuters has continued to investigate the fires caused by Beko fridge freezers and the events surrounding the tragic fires. The investigation seems to indicate that Beko dropped the ball on notifying its customers and that Beko didn’t act within EU guidelines.

After a recent series of high profile appliance fires, not least of which being from Beko and Bosch, questions are being asked about the way in whihc potentially life threatening product recals or safety notifications are handled by manufacturers and the UK regulators.

You may have seen it already but, Beko have started an advertising campaign that runs during the popular X Factor show on ITV featuring a Beko washing machine that has a claimed 9kg load capacity and can wash in 39 minutes.

A Beko fridge was incorrectly being blamed for a fire in Neasden, North West London that has sadly claimed the lives of six members of the family that lived in the home.

Beko’s plans for world domination continue with the Turkish appliance brand launching in Australia, with the parent company Arçelik Group announcing that industry veteran Mike Goadby will be the local subsidiary’s managing director for Australia and New Zealand.

Blomberg and others report that Arcelik (Beko), who is now Europe’s third-largest home appliances maker, has agreed to buy South African appliance maker Defy Appliances for $327 million.
