Electrolux has reported first quarter earnings that are ahead of expectation with profits as having shown as risen in the face of a gloomy market outlook, the full press release from Electrolux is as follows.

Lower prices, higher raw-material costs and weak demand contributed to a maammoth 68% decline in Electrolux’s fourth-quarter earnings.

Swedish appliance maker Electrolux plans to cut costs by around 5.1 billion kronor ($770 million) a year and review staffing levels in all regions because of a broad downturn in demand.

The Press in Chile has been speculating that Electrolux is poised to snap up Compañia Tecno, a local appliance manufacturer in Eelctrolux’s continuing expansion into South American territories.
