Production at Antonio Merloni’s (Servis UK/Electra) plants in Fabriano will resume from the 16th to 20th February at Santa Maria and Maragone.
Reports indicate that there will only be four of five work days, as initially estimated and, the staff that it will come recalled are reported to be around 460 workers against the 570 of the January restart.
Meanwhile it would appear from reports in the Italian press that some 1400 workers previously employed at the company have been affected by the closure of Antonio Merloni.
It would also appear that some two million Euros have been set aside to pay salaries during this period of special administration under Marzano’s Law in which Antonio Merloni is trading.
It has also become clear that many more have been affected other than the direct employees of Antonio Merloni, estimates seem to indicate that some 3500 jobs relied on production by the company and that some of these jobs will very possibly be lost. At present it is unknown which companies have been adversely affected but this would possibly explain the lack of spare parts currently being seen for Antonio Merloni produced appliances. If some of the spare suppliers also fail it may well be that spares will become totally unavailable.
There have also been reports that Sabaf, the Italian gas burner manufacturer, has suffered reduced incomes and has put much of the blame for this on the failure of Antonio Merloni saying that it has had to write off virtually 100% of debts owed to it by Merloni.
