Samsung Electronics is seeing strong sales of two-door refrigerators in China and will boost marketing efforts in the burgeoning market. The Korean electronics giant controls the largest share of the Chinese market for two-door refrigerators with 29 percent, according to market research firm GFK. As usual trailing just behind Samsung is another Korean giant, LG Electronics, which holds 26 percent.
China’s market for two-door refrigerators was virtually non-existent in 2001, with sales reaching just 900 units. But sales are expected to break 80,000 units this year and 110,000 next year as prices drop. Samsung says it plans to expand the number of product launch shows in China to spread its brand image.
