Seemingly not content with slapping an Android tablet in a fridge freezer Samsung has now decided to team up with the Israeli Sodastream company and installed the facility for people to make fizzy drinks as well.
Due to be launched in the US with the eye watering price of $3899 the model appears to be a four door, three zone French door fridge freezer although there are little details on the actual unit, lots on the addition of Sodastream.
The Sodastream element is installed in the door and operates in much the same way as the usual ice and water dispenser would, only it produces fizzy bubbles obviously. It also uses the normal 60 litre bottles that are used in other Sodastream products.
Looking at it though we wonder what the point is. Surely it is cheaper to simply buy a standalone Sodastream machine than pay the premium for one built into the fridge? It somehow just seems sort of, well, odd and awkward. And for those reasons, we can’t see this being a big seller or spawning clones.
