The Whitegoods Trade Association (WTA) are set to attend the upcoming appliance distributor, Swift Electrical’s trade show later this month and the WTA website has had face-lift with news of the February Whitegoods Conference and registration now online.

Swift Trade Show
The Swift tradeshow runs from the 18th October until the 20th October with the doors open from 10am until 7pm.
The WTA will be there for the full duration of the show on a stand where you can meet some of the team members and discuss the trade association in general or just stop by for a chat. You can get more information and pick up an invitation from the WTA website.
Swift say that, for WTA members in particular, that “deals of the day” will be of interest to members. While they are not finalised, Hotpoint and Indesit will be offering a discount off any order, as well as special offers from other brands as well. This in addition to the normal monthly deals available from Swift to WTA members.
Attending the show are the following.
- Hoover

WTA Website Facelift
If you haven’t visited the WTA website (www.whitegoodstradeassociation.org) for a while you might notice a few changes. The website has been completely face-lifted over the past week or so.
The face-lift offers the association new possibilities with their site including the ability to offer online membership application, renewal and meeting registration (more about that below) as well as the ability to allow members and new applicants to pay online using PayPal. This massively helps both old and new members by saving time and making these simple processes much easier than they were in the past and in keeping with the association’s ideal of keeping up with technology.
The facility has also been added to allow access to certain areas and articles on the website to be made available to members only and, whilst this is not currently being used in that way, it is likely that it will be in the future. However it has allowed the association to create a member list to deliver any important news or announcements using the new system.
There are other enhancements and changes, but we’ll let you explore them for yourself.
Whitegoods Conference 2012
Again, just in case you missed it, the Whitegoods Conference is now scheduled to take place on the 24th February 2012 at the Hilton Coventry.
More information and an initial list of exhibitors is availabe from this link. This page will be updated with more information as it is available.
Interestingly the WTA came up with the notion of running some engineer seminars, basically mini training sessions on topics that seem to vex engineers the most and, they intend to run these seminars depending on what is requested and what they can organise in response for this conference. Other subjects may well get carried over onto subsequent meetings. These will be run free of charge and will be open to anyone in the industry, not just trade association members.
Lawrence Carey, the current chairman, said that the “This sort of knowledge should be made available to the community and that the WTA was not in the business of disadvantaging non-members, that is not what the spirit of the WTA is about. The job of a trade association is to improve the industry and it’s members situation, you don’t do that be alienating trade members that don’t happen to be members of our association”.
Registration is completely free. Attendance is completely free.
Pretty much in keeping with all the Whitegoods meetings of the past, all you need to do is register and, as promised above, that’s been made a whole lot easier now by the use of an online registration facility. This has been open to WTA members only for the two weeks but has now been opened to the rest of the trade, you can find the registration form from this link to register.
