ITV News have investigated air fryer fires, and some of the things they raise here are concerning, as well as could apply to other cooking appliances.

We occasionally see this with normal ovens as well, but in every single instance we’ve ever seen results for, it’s been something in the oven that has caused the problem or poor cleaning. So the warnings on that front really do apply to any oven; air fryers are essentially small-capacity ovens that run pretty hot.
So please, when using any cooking appliance, do follow the instructions and do keep them clean so that you stay safe and don’t end up adding to the statistics.
