Bottomline Technologies, a leading provider of payments and invoice automation software and services, today announced that the Council of Registered Gas Installers (CORGI) has implemented Bottomline’s PayBase payments and collections platform.

CORGI is the gas safety watchdog group in the UK, where all businesses carrying out gas related work are required by law to register with the organisation. Like all UK organisations, CORGI has been confronted in recent years by changing requirements in the electronic payments landscape and a need to achieve greater visibility into their payment processes. Perhaps no development in the payments landscape has had a greater impact than the impending BACSTEL-IP standard, which UK organisations must fully support before the 31 December 2005 industry deadline, or be unable to make electronic payments and collections utilising the BACS service.

“Clearly, complying with the new BACS standard was of primary importance in re-thinking how our organisation approaches electronic payments. But in undertaking this initiative, we also had to consider how smoothly we could integrate a new solution with our existing back-office systems,” said Yomi Tobun, Systems Accountant for CORGI. “Bottomline’s market leadership position for BACSTEL-IP solutions and services carried great weight during the evaluation process. With PayBase, we have a BACS compliant solution that gives us a highly secure and audited process from beginning to end.”

“The payments landscape is rapidly evolving and CORGI is an excellent example of how organisations must be proactive in confronting the challenges and opportunities these changes present,” said Peter Fortune, President of Bottomline Technologies Europe. “BACS compliance is just the beginning for organisations such as CORGI. Beyond BACSTEL-IP, Bottomline’s future product offerings will provide companies with significant process efficiencies and unprecedented visibility into their financial operations.”
