Word has reached UK Whitegoods today that Distriparts, the spares arm of the Electrolux Group that also manufacture the brands Zanussi, AEG, Parkinson Cowan, Tricity Bendix amongst others are set to institute the second price hike for spares this year.
Both the first and the scheduled increase for October are running above current inflation rates, the first increase that came into force in February of this year was a 3% increase. The scheduled increase for October will add a further 5% overall and, according to our information, some of the slower moving spares being increased by a yet undisclosed amount.
Also with this news came some news of a fair bit of disenchantment with the proposed increases especially given that some of the spares are already considered to be pretty expensive. Some spares suppliers and Service Force agents are not at all pleased with these increases.
It seems unreasonable to institute two spares price increases within twelve months but it seems that these increases will come to pass. Perhaps if or when spares sales or appliance sales drop due to high repair costs there may be a re-think on such a strategy.

So now the “beyond economic repair” rate will start to soar for ”Lux Group products as well as Merloni! Are they EVER going to learn?
