Once again this year Domestic & General had a fun day out for agents and staff at the PFI Circuit in Grantham and it was fun.
Team UKW (as it was known) really didn’t do so well since we came in 16th but winning wasn’t really the point for us, having a bit of a laugh was and we got that in spades despite the oppresive heat.
The temperature on the day was nudging 29C for a good bit of the day and, being wrapped up in a suit, gloves and a helmet didn’t exactly help you cool down!
I must apologise to someone in Kart 5 though, I think that was Dave MacFadyen’s team as someone cut me off on the hairpin and I kinda rammed the kart, oops, sorry guys but there was nowhere to go.
I got my comeuppance though involving a not so delicate thump and a wall of tires.
However there was some good news, Micheal Fitzgerald’s (DAG) team won the race, but Nigel & Co. from GT Electrical (also UKW members) came in second and gave Micheal’s team a good run for their money.
In other news, Lawrence didn’t come in last, so according to Micheal that’s a fantastic improvement on last year.
All in all though it was a great day out and well worth attending should you get the opportunity to do so, fantastic fun and the D&G crew are a great bunch of folks, well worth the effort.
You never know, maybe we’ll do better next year.
Kenneth Watt.
