I find it even easier than Indesit!
I use washing-up liquid which I put in the groove that goes on the drum. Once the seal is on the drum I use some “Fairy” again this time on the outer side of the seal as well as I get the spring in “Fairy” as well. Start from bottom , put the spring into the grove and by locking it into the grove start circle the drum. It’s very important to hold your thumbs firmly attached half to the rest of your fingers to get a “V” shape so the spring doesn’t go. And if you put enough “fairy” in first place once you got past half it flips into place. Takes 5-10 mins on washers and 15-20mins on w/d.
Same with new bosch, indesit.
Hope you got the picture.

If you fold the door gasket inside the inner drum, you can then use Mole-grips at the 12 O’clock position to clamp the spring into the gasket groove.. Practise and feel will show you how much pressure to use. Job LITERALLY takes 30 seconds to do using this method ! hope this helps..

A very interesting topic . I have used many of the aforementioned methods , except the paper tissues and the little bar method . Is the bar inserted ” end on ” I wonder . Last time I asked a customer to help , she refused because she was wearing £35 worth of false nails . I had thought of making a special tool for the job , but perhaps I dont do enough of them to justify it . I magine a large diameter metal tube that would just fit over the door boot . Its length would only be about 5cms . It might need to be adjustable in diameter to fit different models , which could be acheived by slotted bolt-up joint . First fit the garter ring onto the tube . a sprag or spike on one end of the tube would prevent it slipping off while fitting. then slip the tube over the rubber . now push the garter ring off the far end of the tube. The far end of the tube might need to be castellated [ like the battlements of a castle] to help the process . Sudden nasty thought , would the tool fit through the any cmments?door hole in the front panel ? I asume everybody takes the door off to facilitate the job ?

No problem if you do like Phil and take the tank out!

i use 2 nut spinner(box spanners) take the door off makes it easier to negoiate, wedge one in work ya way around wedge another in, then the remainder just flicks in, 10 mins tops 🙂
take the tub out, umm good idea ! 🙄

Also do remember it is best not to fight the forces of GRAVITY :lesson:
Take door off, disconnect the hoses and lay the machine on its back. Then your mole grips, lumps of wood, bits of paper, socket sets, box spanners or whatever won’t let you down at that critical moment
…nothing worse than when your socket set goes clang then your spring goes twang! :rotfl:

LEGSTHE DIVER WROTE:If you fold the door gasket inside the inner drum, you can then use Mole-grips at the 12 O’clock position to clamp the spring into the gasket groove.
I use 2 of those black plastic spring clamps with plastic jaws; they do the same job as Molegrips without the risk of piercing the rubber.

ever tried the old wooden dolly peg, they are simple, correct size to jam between gasket and weight, nearly every customer has one, and they will even give you a couple spare for your tool case,, certainly has a talking point with customers.

First, remove the door, then insert a OTTER type TOC (which is really usefull for testing fridge stats etc by shorting circuit) with it’s outer case on, at around 9pm between the weight and the gasket. This will hold the spring to the seal and the rest is plain sailing. The same is for the washer dryer, a little harder. remove the dryer manifold at the top and fit it to the seal first, then fit the rest of the gasket. I allow 45 mins max for washer dryers, any longer I feel dissapointed in myself and behind schedule.
