I am beginning to wish I’d never spoken to the Beckenham people. Today my shiny new Miele Prestige Plus was delivered, installed and within a few minutes a puff of smoke came out of the drum, uninstalled, put back in van, I have to wait til next Tuesday for a replacement, I am not a happy bunny 🙁

Now then, where is UKWG’s 17 year old CAD student, parents own a 14 year old Hoover, resident Miele fan boy, forum troll when you need him. :rolls:

You are correct, seal is attached directly to the drum.Jim.
Got mine installed now and with the outer door down it is certainly strange seeing the door move around while the outside of the machine is rock steady. Watching it on spin it looks like it is defying the laws of physics.. 😯 😆

But, Cap’n – the dilithium crystals will take it…… 😀

One thing gents…
Having had the ISE 10 for a few weeks now one thing I have noticed is that the hinges of the drop down door get in the way of opening the door so it folds back flat against whatever is next to the ISE 10.
Nothing too significant – but just a design detail that it might be worth considering for any product revisions.
Having a drop down door & the access door that folds back 180 degreees would be really good.

Hello everyone I’m here. I have a question to ask actually, me and my mum were browsing around Miller bros, and none of the Miele machines open. Are they supposed to do that, and why?
Also to the other post, with the Prestige, where did you buy it from?

Not sure about Miele but some machines have solenoid operated door locks ( the ISE 10 does ) that need power to release them. You can overide this from inside in case of failure.
The big advantage of this type of door lock is that the door can be opened as soon as the machine finishes and they are also more reliable than the standard type of interlock.Jim.

I know you can release the door with the ring pull, but according to a user manual that I downloaded of the model we may be going for, there is a special lever tool that opens the filter flap, but I could not see this lever. What I can’t understand is, why would you need a lock to only release itself when there is power on, does the machine have to be connected to the mains socket and that switched on, or does the actual machine needed to be turned on too?
So many questions about these. Does the W3922 have a light ring, and how noisey would it be with the brushless motor, quieter than the standard ones?
I or should I say we, need to know how quiet the machine is as it is going to be sited in a kitchen dining area. How noisey are the condenser dryers too, because my aunt has a White Knight 797 and it sounds like a Boeing 747 taking off.October 31, 2007 at 8:56 pm #230845don

The yellow lever in question is in the plastic bag along with the instructions, which is behind the locked door if the machine isn`t connected .

Thanks for that Don, that was very helpful and has answered my questions, although the light ring in question was the yellow one around the control dial, what the older ones had. What are pros and cons to a condenser and vented dryer, bearing in mind our kitchen layout places the washer and dryer on an outside wall?
And of course the W3922 only has a matching condenser dryer.October 31, 2007 at 9:43 pm #230847kwatt

Hehehe, sorry about hijacking the thread, but I was asking questions. I’m actually starting to think of going for an ISE10 (although it has to be in stainless) of the stainless steel Maytag versions (the ones with the blue LCD) they too are built by ASKO arent they? Im just wondering about these because they might look better in the kitchen.
November 1, 2007 at 4:14 pm #230850kwatt
KeymasterYes Adam they are and we wont’ be doing stainless anytime soon as it’s too expensive IMO as well as, according to dealers, starting to die down in sales volumes.
The LCD models don’t gain much of anything really… except an LCD. It’s often used as a way of making the machines look more expensive and it’s actually not required. In fact, for many people it just confuses the use of the machine and I prefer (as well as think) that using a washer should be easy, not akin to piloting the space shuttle.

Out of interest I had a quick look at the Maytag’s as I have bought the ISE machines.
They seem a good price until you take into account the Warranty.
Looks like adding a 5 year boosts the price up to or above the ISE price and I haven’t seen an option for a 10 year. (Looking at the 1400 machines)
Depends on your attitude to risk and what you will pay for peace of mind I guess. Hopefully my local engineer would be round like a shot if I had a warranty claim. Especially as I have his mobile number 8) 😆@ the ISE guys…….Would be interested in whether the different badged machines all have the same internals or whether you get the chance to specify your own level of quality from the ‘options shelf’ for pumps, motors and other wearing parts etc ❓
