Re-Beko CDA648FS/1 Frost Free Fridge Freezer!
Fridge freezing up and fan running all the time.
jskelton555 (Sept 11th 2014) suggested changing evaporator sensor which sits in a tube on back wall, 200mm down from top, 200mm from left side and 50mm deep. Is this standing at back of Fridge/Freezer?
ie 200mm from left top and 200mm down from top. As I can see two thermisters when I take the panel in the freezer covering the evaporator off? Please help.

Dave usually sends out a sheet with a guide on it with the sensors.
As for a video, I’m doubting the availability of that very much as it’s a very specific thing to this range.

re beko CDA648FS/1 Fridge Freezer,
Thanks to David Sussman ( post march 14 2015 ) thank you for displaying your link, showing the photo of the cut out insulation and sensor 4394720185 at the back of the fridge (below the PC cover).
This was all the info I required. I cut a rectangular hole, removing a thin layer of insulation and then cutting in about 50mm to sensor.
I also pierced a hole with screwdriver up into PC Cavity as cable is short, fed new sensor cable through hole and cut old sensor cable 2″ from PC plug to solder new sensor cable to these tails, After inserting new sensor in holding tube, I filled hole with Expanding Foam pressed thin layer of previousley cut insulation over Hole and held in place to set.
Thanks again

i changed the sensor, and yes it has worked ie not freezing anymore, however there is condensation on the back wall constantl, i used epanding foam so there should be no cold spots…anyone have this problem after?

Brilliant, Sounds like the problem I have with mine. Runs constantly and freezes everything up. I bought a plug timer to manually switch it off every 15 minutes.
I’ve ordered the part, £8.99 from eBay.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/301677613045It’s the same item number, but different fridge model. I will report back on if it works.
So it’s as simple as cutting the wires, and soldering the red / blue wires from the new sensor?

On a timer?
To maintain a food safe temperature?
I can tell you, that’s not gonna work out too well. Which is why thermostats have been used since time in memorial.
If you don’t mind things like food spoiling, sickness and bacteria growth I guess it’s okay.
Sorry but, people reading this need to understand the danger of that course.

Many thanks to everyone who has posted on this problem, your posts and advice helped greatly,I managed to replace the sensor last night on my daughters Beko fridge freezer, this morning all the frost had gone from the back of the fridge and it was running normally(my husbands quite impressed too, think he thought I might blow it up!),also many thanks to UK white goods for the speedy delivery of the part I ordered from them,so glad I found this forum!!

Well I used a data logger in the freezer to get the temp every 10 minutes.
The fridge never went above 2c, and the freezer ranged between -17.5 and -25.
They can be off for 12 hours which is what they are designed to do during power cuts before the temps become dangerous.
No need to be cocky about it 😉
New sensor fitted now, and it’s working. Huge word of warning for anyone attempting to do this, DO NOT use a naked flame for the heat shrink near the foam insulation, it is flammable and a test piece went up quick.

Hello everyone. I too had the same problem with my fridge section freezing despite having the dial on 1. The part you are looking for is a thermistor (changes its resistance with temperature), which is inserted into a slot attached to the back of the fridge compartment. Turn the unit round and measure 22cm down from the top and halfway across the back, Cut away the corrugated plastic back cover and dig down about 5cm until you find the sensor which is about 5cm long and inserted into a sleeve which is attached to the metal back of the fridge section. I made quite a large hole in order to find it. I used a wooden spatula to do the actual cutting away in order not to damage anything. I dug out several cupfuls of foam. The 2 wires were contained in a blue plastic sleeve and it connected to the circuit board located behind a white cover at the top. The original wire colours were grey and orange. You will have to solder the new sensor wires to the old connector as the new one I bought from Ebay (4394720185 for £8.99) had red and blue wires. It doesn’t matter blue to orange or blue to grey as it’s not polarised like a battery. IMPORTANT..Don’t forget to reseal the back with expanding foam else you will get condensation running down the back of your fridge. Nobody has mentioned this vital step. Wickes sells a 300ml expanding foam can for £2.99.

Just an update to my entry on Wed, the new thermistor fixed the problem.
The new thermistor and the old one both read about 10.2K Ohms at room temperature (give them time to get to the same temperature), so I’m not really sure why the new thermistor works and the old one doesn’t. Note that the fridge initially froze then slowly thawed to normal after fitting the new part.
Also, please note that the new thermistor from eBay had a black plastic sleeve over it. I had to cut this away in order for it to fit into the slot at the back of the fridge compartment. Cut away only enough to allow it to fit and don’t cut near the wires or there’s a risk of damaging them.August 29, 2015 at 1:43 pm #409786Simon46

The black plastic sleeve is to stop ingress of moisture which is the reason why your original thermistor failed.

jskelton555 wrote:just replaced my fridge sensor on Beko CDA648 F/F. Not a hard job- cut insulation away a bit at a time, sensor is 50mm + deep so there is a fair bit to cut out. sensor sits in a tube on back wall. mine was 220mm down from top and 200mm from left side. i poked another hole to PCB board and soldered connections back on. finally I put a carefully sized piece of kingspan insulation in the neat rectangular hole I cut in back. Hole was 60mm deep 100mm wide.
all is now fine
hope this helps

john 😀
forgot to say lots of step by step photos, just don’t know where to load themPM for further info if you are stuck!
Hi,Could you send me photos of what you did please to fit the sensor ? Kind Regards Mark -
