Beko are saying that the affected appliances are perfectly safe to use as long as “nothing unusual” is happening with them. The London fire brigade representative on Radio 2 also said there is no need to stop using them.
I hope that it truly is the case that no affected appliance has ever caught fire without first displaying clear symptoms that something is wrong, and for long enough to be noticed, because if not, this advice could prove to be fatal.

Unfortunately appliances catch fire, they always will.

Thanks K although I have all that information on my Blog already. The only missing information I have is, can they catch fire spontaneously, whilst previously appearing perfectly ok? Or can they only catch fire after several days of playing up?
As half a million appliances are said to be affected Beko are not going to want to advise everyone to stop using them as it would involve a lot of food going off and consequential damage claims. This could colour judgement on what is the best course of action. I don’t mean this as a slur on Beko, only history is littered with examples of cases where companies and institutions have done what’s best for them and not the safety of their customers. That fact is indisputable and causes me to be sceptical of advice that products are safe to continue using.

Without more information, not possible to speculate and I wouldn’t due to the nature of the recall.

Especially if they are low end budget machines, the sheds have caused this problem forever getting manufacturers to turn out El Cheapo appliances so the sheds can flood the market, all the while there are takers of this we will see instances just like this.
A neighbour a few doors from us had a Indesit Frost free appliance which caught fire a few years back, the whole kitchen, lower ground floor and conservatory was badly damaged, They did not purchase that brand again !

Get them to contact Beko would be my first thought, I am not sure if we would be responsible about the appliance but advising the 3rd party probably would be -
