Yes agreed. Tell the customer to contact Beko, make sure you note it on the sheet or service system and you’ve covered your tail.
Interestingly I was just reading a piece by a PR bloke on this whole thing. He reckons that it’s an unmitigated disaster for Beko as all people will remember now is, “that’s the appliances that go on fire” and little else. Quite interesting as he likened it to the News Of The World thing as the story just kept on giving more.

PR disaster sure enough and for the agents as British gas are getting the work as well, not happy and so are other Beko agents not happy. Yes I was one complaining about it after investing my money into stock to do the work.
So unhappy when a customer rang us the other day wanting the helpline number I was very twmptedto tell her it was just 999.

May I just enquire as to who else could possibly have been contacted by Beko in order to carry out this nationwide repair recall coverage?
Honestly, I’ve no clue, do please explain? :con:

The network of agents that were setup a year or so ago that are doing or were doing all the warranty work for Beko. But instead it appears to be outsourced to British gas.

Ah! Thanks for that Whirl4, you’ve answered my question, the key word being “agents” and from that I would imagine Beko chose to solve their recall problem under just one roof so to speak, and at a price no ‘agent’ would entertain. 🙁

I have never came across a Beko f/f till today. Model CDA660FW with a dead mechanical defrost timer. I checked on the list of affected models and this one is not on there but when I look up the part number for the defrost timer it says to order one of the new elctronic timer service kits 😕
Can anyone confirm if this model is affected and if it is not why does it need the service kit

They have simply done away with the old mechanical timer, and the new kit will be a replacement. There is a choice of kit related to serial number.

Masterpart were sending out details of the updated timer. Can I suggest that anyone who hasnt got the update either contact Mpart or Beko. I would post it here but I might be contravening some of UKWG policies :rolls:
Sod it it’s here, better be safe than sorry, I think Beko should be thanking us for looking after their interests. Sorry Ken if I have over stepped, I will greatfully accept slapt wrists :rolls: http://www.masterpart.com/Beko_Technica … 90100.htmlBy the way check the date of the update 😐

cheers john
funny beko saying ur model not on recall but fit kit anyway ?
looks like we wont be seeing beko f/f for a while as it seems they are being routed back to beko at the call centre ..?wonder if the new beko engineers will defrost the evap if job is booked re over-freezing etc ? as this can take 30-60 mins depending on model and how badly frozen – not to mention the plastic panels that break if you look at them the wrong way
lets hope they factored that in when quoting for work .
or will they just fit new defo kit and refer cust back to call center for further work ??
suspect the later will be the case ..
