KeymasterWell there we have it folks…
The troll can’t hack it when someone tears into his argument and edits all his posts to read “I give up”.
MJK, you didn’t even answer half the questions I asked of you.
So either the questions were too hard, had an answer you didn’t like or you just think that all us peasants are beneath you and we’re not worth the trouble. Whichever way I think that everyone has gotten a grasp of the situation.

Interesting both posters share the same IP address though 🙄

For a highly qualified “engineer” his spelling is atrocious!! Good grief – ‘instutute’ and ‘qualfied’ in the same sentence!! Now it’s quite understandable to type so badly when one is so dreadfully upset about the injustices in the world today; honestly, calling yourself an engineer when you are not university graduated?? That will never do! It obviously proves he’s met and interviewed us all!!! But just imagine, all you lowly ‘repairmen’; if the standard of Dave P’s computer work is so terribly inaccurate day to day as it is on this forum, another Chenobyl will probably be the result.
And not a single lowly ‘washing machine repairmen’ was involved in that. We leave that to the ‘real’ engineers. People in glass houses etc….
So, it seems to me that Dave P and mjk8 are almost certainly the same person. There surely could not be 2 people showing such an staggering absense of respect for other trades. It certainly shows an appalling lack of character and imagination to start a post “I give up”, when a university qualified engineer would be able to hold an intelligent and coherent discussion without profanity or intent to upset.
I would suggest that Dave P and mjk8 are almost certainly spammers of the 14 year old spotty ‘Billy-no-mates’ variety that do little to further the human gene – pool. Intelligent and articulate adults would know better.
If, of course, they are 2 different ‘people’, then this is worrying. Anyone spouting such sanctimonious garbage only belongs in one kind of “Institute”: one with padded walls. The staff are probably frantically looking for ‘them’ right now.
UK Whitegoods is benevolent organisation run for the benefit of members of the industry, but also offers free help and advice to the public. All we ask in return is cooperation and respect for the essential role we play day to day.
Please leave this site and it’s ENGINEERS alone. What you are doing is not big, and it’s not clever. Your aspertions serve no purpose; they don’t change anything. You are little more than playground bullies; lashing out at others in a futile attempt to disguise your own deep insecurity. You do a grave disservice to your industry and your peers. You should hang your head in shame.
It’s must be comforting to tell yourself, “Wow, what an amazing specimen I am”. But sadly, you are the only one that believes it.
When you say “I give up” – kindly take your own advice; ‘give up and go away’ – permanently.July 23, 2006 at 6:56 am #182762mjk8

Yes I gave up because obviously it is all the washing machine repair men against me !!
You may think that you are real engineers, but fact is that you are not and never will be. If any of you had worked in a real engineering environment you would not be working fixing washing machines in peoples homes – laughable isnt it 😀
Bye bye now, im off and I won’t be coming back to view any more ridiculous comments where washing machine men are pretending to be real engineers…The cheek of it.
Mike 😀

There you go again with your ignorant comments 🙄
You may think that you are real engineers, but fact is that you are not and never will be.
Has already been explained to you the terminology relating to the the title of “engineer” so obviously grammar is not one of your strong points in your job
If any of you had worked in a real engineering environment you would not be working fixing washing machines in peoples homes
Many of us have thanks for your concern
laughable isnt it 😀
Frankly yes it is that a supposedly educated person like yourself would make a complete tool of himself in a public forum

Well I wish I could believe that but I doubt it, you can’t help yourself.
I worry where you off to now though 😕 Probably to make an ass of yourself on another website and start a stupid thread entitled…… “Call yourself a reactor engineer” in the Chernobyl Forum 🙄Bye Bye and all the best in the future

Note how he sidesteps every question and ignores every valid point. Not the mark of an educated man – just a delusional fool. Or spammer.
I for one have better things to do with my life than to rise to the bait again. There is none so blind as those who will not see. Let’s hope his car doesn’t break down on the motorway – I’d hate to be the AA engineer called out to rescue his sorry arse.
I’m sure mjk8’s real name is Rick; (with a silent ‘P’ of course). :rotl:July 23, 2006 at 11:17 am #182766whitevanman

You guys repair appliances, right?
An industrial electrician will also repair industrial equipment i.e PLC controlled automated process equipment, 4-20Ma instrumentation loops, SCADA control, MAXIVIS control etc etc. Their work will involve repairing level probes, flow meters, motors, contol systems, power control etc etc
OK so far…..
Right the electrician is not the engineer…the engineer is the person who is brought into the equasion for the more complex redesign and corrections to problematic design/process problems.
Surely the roll of the white goods man similar to the electricians – Maybe slightly less due to the simple nature of the appliances compared to a complex industrial contol system on say a large chemical plant process.
The electrican is not refered to as the engineer, yet the white goods man is?
Why?

ParticipantRe: Dishwasher Engineers 2??
But all those components you mention are electrical components. Could your electrician correctly locate the fault on a washing machine that overfills or would he dive straight in & change the control module?
You wouldn’t call an electrician to fix your washing machine, nor would you call a plumber and you certainly wouldn’t call in a mechanic so “white goods men” need experience of all 3 areas.
A washing machine isn’t just electronic controls, there are mechanical components like bearings and there are various water components, valves, hoses etc.
To quote the collins dictionary:
“ENGINEER – a person who repairs and maintains mechanical or electrical devices”That’s us.

It’s a traditional reference that’s been with us since the 1960’s, possibly before that.
You still have not answered and are avoiding my questions. If you want a debate fine, but at least have the decency to hold a debate and not a witch hunt. That means that you answer the points, not evade them.
Your definition of an engineer is one of design from what I can gather, I’ve no idea of the systems you speak of as, frankly, I have no need or desire to know.
However I’d still like to know and, just another evaded question, what gives you or your precious institute the right to define what an engineer is or is not? I’d also like to know what field of engineering that you specialise in, as you obviously do in some field I assume, and how that correlates in any way to what we do?
After you answer that lot we may be able to move on.
