Hello Penguin45,
I have read some of your posts helping people out and they are great.
I have a Pride5.5 Smart Drive 9 (MW059AU). Previously I have replaced the Out of Balance switch which was got us a couple more years out of the machine.
Now we get all the lights on when we turn it on like everything is fine. Just nothing happens when we try to wash.
We managed to get it to do a couple of loads after we first had the problem, but now it just won’t do anything again.
I’ve followed the instructions to get ‘Hold & Slow’ to show in diagnostic mode but no lights turn on. If I keep pushing speed after that then I get some lights, but nothing on ‘hold & slow’ lit.
I feel the problem is going to be something minor and easy to fix, just don’t know where to look. I’m quite certain its not the overbalance switch again.
Can you please help with some suggestions?
Thanks,

Where do I find the lid switch?
The lid appears to just lift off in the upright position.
Thanks for the reply.

I’m not shure on the model it will either be on the display module too tell look for a button by the lid hinge.
If it is not there will be a reed switch on the underside of the deck on the right hand side looking from the front.

Hi Ratbag_359,
MW059AU – Pride 5.5 (Phase 5)
I fixed the lid switch problem and the machine was going fine. The other day though a funny smell starting coming from the machine and there was a gray residue through the wash, near the drain and spin – it would not completely drain and stopped.I’ve turned in back on and entered the diagnostic mode and found its the pump getting too much current or something like that, it was code 00111110 – then turned the machine off.
Anyway it had some water in the bottom that needed draining before removing the pump. I turned the machine power back on to see if it would pump out the rest of the water again before doing it manually. As I turned the power on at the wall there was an electrical snap sound, the safety switch in the house was tripped and the machine console would not light up at all.
I’m now not sure whether to buy a replacement pump or not.
My question is – if the pump ‘zapped itself out’ and is completely shot now, is that enough to stop the machine turning on at all now?
Or, have I done damage to the control panels?
If it is the control panel (or electronics) that are gone now, what part should I replace there?
Thanks,
Noel (from Australia)

First thing to check is the winding’s on the pump they should measure around 30?.
The motor controller module’s fuse will have gone open, that will need to be replaced also the TRIAC on the controller maybe damaged most likely shorted and will make the pump run continually.
