KeymasterI recently went through an expensive washing machine repair, main controller and motor position sensor needed replacement. I thank this forum for lots of tips and advice – keep it going.
My Machine FISHER & PAYKEL Smart Drive 9 – Pride 5.5 MODEL MW059AU
Can anyone give me some advice (for the next fault) on entering and using diagnostic mode – and interrupting the error codes. Is there a list of these codes and their meaning available. I found the manufactures most unhelpful.
Thanks once again.August 16, 2005 at 7:04 pm #144951admin

Turn machine OFF on the front panel. Hold down the Water Temp Down button and press the POWER button. Release buttons. You are in Diagnostic mode. Press press the spin speed up button until the hold and slow are lit. Write down the LEDS which are lit across the top row of progress LEDS. and post back. 😉

To Guest,
Thanks for the reply , I dont have a problem at the moment, just spent $400 on repairs, my interest in the list of fault codes is for future reference only.August 17, 2005 at 11:25 pm #144953Penguin45

Bit unfortunate Bolton – we can’t publish a list as the information is copyright to FP. However, I hope you will have realised that a reasonably quick response can be made to specific problems without breaching this; not to mention that the forum has covered a variety of common faults over the months.
We’re here if you need us.

Hi There
I am having a problem with my Fisher & Paykell Smartdrive 9 5.5kg washing machine and found this when searching.
I went into diagnostic mode as instructed. The 2 rinse lights are on solid and the spin light is slow flashing. No other lights are on on the top row.
Is someone able to help me out with what this means.
Thanks
Kirm 😉

You aren’t in diagnostic mode………
Have a read of the sticky above and have another go.

Hi,
I have a Pride MW058
It stopped recently during its run, but I missed the exact combo of lights. A Power off & on fixed it.
When I went into diagnostic mode, the first and third lights from left were on.
As the issue has gone away, do I assume these lights mean everything AOK:)Craig

Technically it means that the drum dropped back down onto the drive splines during the wash, instead of floating free. This is often caused by overloading the tub…….
Check by lifting that the tub is free to move up and down.
Otherwise, follow the loading instructions.

Thanks Penguin
The load was very small, and not heavy (baby clothes) but the machine is getting on a bit, so maybe it’s just age. Know the feeling myself 😀

Hi there. I found this forum while searching for repair advice for my machine (F&P smartdrive 9 Fresh 5.0) and followed the diagnostic advice (hold and slow lights on) and this is what appeared:
Blank, on, blank, on blank, on, on.
Is anyone able to explain the meaning to me please? What the machine is doing is filling for a few seconds then stop, filling again for a few seconds then stop again. it does this a few times then stops and beeps. i took the cover off then the control panel under that off and there were two plugs that looked a little corroded so i removed them one at a time and cleaned them up. this helped for a bout a month and now it is doing it again, but this time cleaning the terminals didnt help.
Any help would really be appreciated, Thanks.
My email is grantnrobyn@optusnet.com.au
Thanks, Grant

You’re a digit short on the diagnostic display. Please have a read od the Diagnostics sticky at the top of the forum as to how to proceed.

Hi, what does the short wash, second rinse light and the spin light mean in diag mode? Machine has been stopping during a cycle almost as if its software had hung Now it will only fill for a second and stop. Starts filling for another second and stop. then from what i can tell it goes into diagnostic mode by itself.machine is a gw503k. Any help would be great as it is only a matter of time before i pull it down bit by bit. 🙂

Numerically, right to left, which lamps are lit? This is all in the diagnostics thread at the top of the forum if anyone ever bothered to read it.
