KeymasterTough really Mark, Qualtex would suffer the same posting about spares. It’s a well used format for forums.

Now that the earlier missunderstanding has been cleared up, can I ask why Support UK Whitegoods engineers with Amazon has to be there at the bottom of each and everyones post in the public forums? Does the public understand what it is all about? Who are UK Whitegoods engineers anyway? Why do they need support in this way? Does the public give a toss?
I will at this point put in my :martin: lest there be any confusion to my questioning 😉

KeymasterIt’s there as the Amazon module has been removed and nobody noticed, due to an update at Amazon. It didn’t generate enough to make it worthwhile spending the money to upgrade it.
All funds from sales made on that link go to the subscribers, as Amazon revenue has from the start, so I thought it would be nice to try to get something from it for the subs.
I didn’t really give it much thought TBH but I’m sure that some more in the subs pot would be nice enough.

The subs pot is full and overflowing with nothing to spend it on as I recall? Far better the subscriber funding be direct more towards the betterment (is that a word?) of UKW, its improved server costs, its commitment to repairs@ etc etc.
UKW needs to recoup some of its investment back in a more positive way from its MEMBERS first (i.e Those that get work from repairs@ should stump up say £1 a call back to UKW?) Free membership is all well and good but come on guys, leave charity to someone else here and get real!
Don’t put upon Joe Public in this way to get funding, sod Amazon, its too ‘in their face’ anyway I reckon.
:martin: You may notice my signature is ’empty’ at the moment but only because friggin’ Amazon is there…uninvited! 🙄

The subs pot hasa few quid in it, I’d hardly qualify a few grand as overflowing and, even if it were overflowing, is that any reason to stop putting money in there? One day it’ll find its feet and that money may very well be welcome at that point.
As for the server etc., I’ve alreasy explained why we paid for it in the subs forum.
I will not take a “per call” fee for the use of Repairs@, believe me Sean’s already tried to talk me into that one and the best advice I can give you is just to let that one go before you get hurt. 😆
The goal was always to fund UKW without using the repairers money, not charging for services that others like your servicewanted mob etc. charge for. Not my style. And, when you actually stop to think about it, that’s the repairers gaining for supporting the site and feeding its growth, advertising included, but it means that those advertisers are paying for jobs referred to the repairers for free. Thanks very much, I can live with that thought.
And Amazon, well it’s been dumping about £100 a quarter into the subs account and Google’s been banging in a lot more as well. So obviously some people care enough to use it.
As for the signature, get past it, it’s not a signature, it’s an advertising line that will change with the forum sponsor if I wanted I’m sure I could float right or use images, I may well have a play when the site quietens down a bit or as much as it does these days during the night.. I didn’t enable any of the free ones on purpose.

I have my moments, but I’d not qualify this one as a genius one, much as I’d like to take the credit I only came up with the idea because some people were bustin’ my ass about it. 😆
Ho hum, bang goes another day in paradise.
Now please, can we all do something more constructive? 😉
