    No, no, no….we’re talking EARTH INSULATION TEST METER . They come either as a 500volt or 1000volt. Like the Clamp Meter you illustrated they range from £25 to £300, there’s loads on eBay. Invaluable for fault finding.

    ok thanks, ive found either the cause – or a problem caused by the cause.

    looking at the board i saw a black sooty mark around some zener diodes so checked the back of the board

    so im positive thats why its not working, but what caused this? could an earth leak do this? dont want to buy another board to have the same happen again. 👿
