W256W and now W288ECO both leaking from new design hinged soap drawer. Fitted complete drawer assembly to first machine but no change and had to exchange m/c for 1607W with standard pull out soap drawer.

Now having the same problem with new ECO machine. Only 4 weeks old and leaking inside and outside front cabinet from soap drawer.

Water pressure OK and machine level.

Problem exacerbated by the fact that the customer lives 6 doors from me so no quiet Sunday for me today.

Anyone had the same problem or have any suggestions.

Not had any issues Ron so I’m not going to be much help beyond what you’ve already thought of.

The only other thing I can think on is what detergent is used as in, is it dissolving or moving fast enough?

Thanks for suggestion Ken. That is a possibility.

I will check that out tomorrow evening and let you know.

Had two do this: both customers put a full scoop of powder in the front compartment – virtually instant overflow. Lowered the fill pressure on both and problem sorted. If left, it can cause the powder coating to peel back like pickling paint inside the front panel; have experience of that happening too. Not bad enough to be noticed by the customer ATM, but would probably have needed a new front panel if it had been left unchecked.

it does seem to be water pressure related, and not stupid high either.

Hi Guys, I have the same problem with a W256 installed in October. Fitted complete drawer and reduced water pressure to machine in November. Customer back on phone today same problem. Also complaining of stains on washing.

It can’t cause stains to appear. 😉

I have changed one also on a W256W – same problem and yes the customer has been back on saying it still leaks sometimes but not as bad.

Re: ISE 10 leak from soap drawer

Looks like you may be right guys, it may be soap powder related. I have asked customer to run a complete cycle with no powder in drawer. She has reported back that it has completed with no leaks. I will be going back on Saturday to look at make of powder and quantity used.

Thanks for help. Will update latter.

I know the stains thing is a different issue Ken, but the leaking from the drawer is a problem. Customer assures me she does not use a lot of washing powder. Have booked a service call for next Monday so will check powder being used etc.

Re: ISE 10 leak from soap drawer

Hi Guys, been out to this machine today and water and soap residue clearly visible on front of machine from under drawer, down to base of machine via door aperture.
Customer hardly using any powder and washing machine valve (tap type) turned down to lessen water flow, which is not high. Machine only 4 months old and had a complete drawer fitted in December.
Anyone else had this, and cured problem?

Re: ISE 10 leak from soap drawer

We’ve only had a few where this has come up Alan and, none have been any sort of severe problem but, I’d think the sensible thing to do would be to get to the bottom of why it’s happening.

I believe you changed the dispenser but, unless that’s been physically damaged in some way or distorted then, the new one would be exactly the same as the old one.

When I mention detergent, I walked into Morrisons last night who were selling a huge 90 wash box of some no-name powder for £7 or something and I couldn’t help but think, I wonder how well that dissolves and flows away in a modern drawer?

The quality of detergent can have a hell of a lot to do with how things work. If it’s crap then, expect crap results and very often issues from it. Of course, the user will blame the washing machine as that’s where they see the problem, can’t be them or the rubbish they use that’s gone wrong.

But, given that the water pressure is okay, the detergent drawer is clearly okay and I’m assuming the installation is okay but you still have water from the drawer then by the simple process of elimination it doesn’t exactly leave a heap of possibilities to go at does it?

After all, it’s just a box that water flows through. Hardly rocket science.

The only variable is what the customer puts in the drawer really.

I know some powders are not good in washing machine drawer but this customer is using Persil. Not what I’d call a crap powder! So back to the drawing board.

Hi Martin, surely it should not leak at all?

We also have a problem with a dispenser not taking the liquid detergent away from the liquid section. Have also tried with the whole dispenser out under a tap and it still doesn’t start siphoning straight away unless its moved.

New dispenser fitted, water adjusted but still to flushing away.
