ParticipantMost of this year has been utterly flat work wise, but the last couple of weeks have been crazy, booked solid for most of next week too. People seem to be much more inclined to repair than replace, perhaps they are finally taking the economic downturn seriously.. i dunno.
Anyone else experiencing a pick up?

No, still dead here. I keep getting cancellations as people seem more inclined to have a go themselves to cure blockages etc 🙁

You might be right. I hope so. It may be just wishful thinking.
(One peak from a long trough, lets hope the peak continues).

Exactly the same, now advertising for another engineer, may need 2 if trends continue. We needed another eng before this kicked in, and another I should be able to absorb. I know 2 swallows don’t make a Summer, but this is a repeat of 1991/1992

Same here. Been rushed off my feet now for about 3 months, after a fairly up and down first half of year. Been doing jobs that I hadn’t done for a couple of years, like elderly Hotpoint and Hoover Logic bearing repacements. Long may it continue. 😀

Long may it continue indeed! About bloody time, i might just manage a decent holiday next year if it continues 😯
Well, i know recessions aint most peoples idea of fun, but if it makes the public think a little harder about the choices they make when their white goods fail, then thats good for the likes of us.
The fly in the ointment might be some seriously aggressive discounting from the sheds in the coming months.. oh well, bring it on 👿

Up and down like a brides nightie here!!!
More of the higher price jobs come back though. £100+ jobs not a rarity now. Then again with a £99 call out charge…..I wish 😉TC

Half Term holidays always shows a dip in work demand so at this time of year it could be that?
There’s always someone who’ll post during these quiet times and inform us all that they’re staked out with work, bully for them but no comfort for anyone that’s struggling during the same time period. Never quite sure if they are trying to show what smart ar… they are or doing it to console?
Anyway for those of us that are struggling right now do take heart of the fact that work generally should continue to be in fairly high demand for the forseeable future at least! 😀

i appreciate your comments martin, however i am not in the same league as many of you here, plumbing and heating are my main areas and it appears since this so called credit crunch people coming off site are undercutting me left right and center, your expertise for repairing white goods should hold you in good stead.
