    Re: Names

It’s not perfect, but it’s a start and at least it’s a shop front. All we need do now is set out our stall over the next few weeks/months.

IMO the sensible thing to do is to discuss the issues that we want to bring to people’s attention then sift through them, sorting the ones that are worth pursuing in the short term and those that aren’t. I’d suggest a separate thread to do that in.

B0ll0cks to member benefits, the benefits are that something is being done to help the repairers. I’d not be bothering with too many things that are, IMO, added value add-ons. That said, one I would pursue is the ID badge thing JM11 suggested, it makes a lot of sense in my head and I’d say that was a cornerstone in some ways.

I posted up a little bit about WEEE today and the EA has given us permission to reprint the communications. 🙂

That is the date given on the page giving the Webmaster info.

Just a thought, although the only links to WTA are from within this thread ATM, anyone out there on the WWW could stumble across this site and register, is it to soon to put systems in place to make sure we keep out the ‘undesirables’ 😉

    Jim.

EDIT . Date now corrected 8) well almost, only a day behind ATM.

    Re: Names

Until it was pointed out I didn’t see it. 😉

Every sign up there’s an email for which currently comes to me but there’s noting that can be done, for now, bar adding a link or news really. Or you get email, which is a bit handy.

    Re: Names

Hi Steven, not especially unless you want to get any emails that are sent out, news and stuff like that.

    Re: Names

I have had a couple of queries from ex Hotpoint colleagues, now indies, about the TA, not sure how they got wind but news does travel. 😉

Are the details of the new web site just for subs eyes only ATM?

Odd, news does indeed travel fast.

The only place that the URL has been posted is in here thus far so far as I am aware but heh, free advertising. 😉

I’ve registered! Looking good so far K, I can’t believe the progress so far…. from the subject kicking off to website up and in construction within 3ish weeks…. Excellent work!

    What’s the next step?

P.S…. Can we change the green on the WTA website….. I can’t stand Green! Too much time in HM Forces killed that colour for me 😆

K.I think they heard about the discussions in the forums, not about the web site, is it OK to give them a link or should we hang fire until ‘other things’ are sorted.?

    Re: Names

I don’t “muck” about normally, if it could have been done sooner it would have been. It annoys people a lot, I want things doing yesterday or sooner. 😉

That said there’s some things a little patience is required for.

As to what next, see the post a few slots above. That’d be my suggestion, collate the issues and then form strategy to deal with them or a stance on them. Once that’s done you can move forward with a little more direction although the obvious ones are…

      WEEE Directive

    Manufacturer Tech Info

    CCAS 😉

    General promotion

I’ll explain, the WEEE Directive doesn’t affect everyone, but it does affect a lot of people in here so my opinion is that we should have a stance on it and, as John and I have been doing, defend our corner.

Tech info, already well discussed. I have already spoken to the OFT on this a bit but had let it be due to time constraints and that we didn’t have a vehicle to adequately complain with. Now we have. 😉

CCAS, I suppose I’d better tell you all about this.

CCAS is the Consumer Codes Approval Scheme run by the OFT. Sean and I have been down seeing the OFT with a view to getting the UKW Charter, or COP as it will be soon, accepted onto the scheme. This would mean that anyone agreeing to adhere to the COP would be entitled to display the fact that they are OFT CCAS Approved.

You can see a bit more about it from this link

Whilst there have already been several score man hours put into this, primarily by me, the cost is not high to do this. It is far, far lower by miles than Trustmark. Is easier to obtain than Trustmark. And, IMO, the OFT is known to a lot more people than the Trustmark symbol.

We had already started down this path as I said, I don’t see any reason to change it and I can’t see any reason to drop it either.

Part of the plan coming together and one of the reasons I think that the cards are a good idea as, if we get this, then we can place the logo on the cards. They carry a bit more weight with an OFT Approved badge on them.

However a TA is a far better vehicle with which to achieve CCAS even although we managed to talk the OFT round to my way of thinking although they did require a little persuasion. 😆

So, unless anyone tells me to stop it, I’ll just carry on. 😉
