    Re: New Machine… 1

John’s bursting to tell you all about ISE-10, retail price and all that malarky and, well, we discussed it and decided that we’d perhaps best not just yet.

In all honesty I like a bit of suspense, it’s good for the soul and teaches patience. 😆

But I’ve been reviewing the (okay so we can admit it openly now) Asko specs and both the dryer and washer really do live up to the misquoted Carlsberg advert, probably the best appliances in the world.

I have to say “probably” as not to say that may lead to some sad git suing me, but I know the truth. 😉

Both should be here late July or early August.

Very rough sales info is now available if you get a hold of me I’ll email it to you.

3 year parts and labour for light commercial use is in the bag, we’ve got that deal and it’s fully underwritten. One way or another we’ll secure the 10 year domestic warranty.

Oh and did I mention that these machine’s components are tested to last 8000+ operations, or 21.8 years of one cycle a day? 😆

    Re: New Machine… 1

Having now received the email and read it I have to say I`m impressed. It almost sounds too good to be true.

The big question that I have to ask, and I`m sure everyone else is thinking is how much is it going to retail for and what margin are we as retailers going to make on it?

The worrying thing is if we don`t make enough on retailing this machine and it doesn`t break down then where do we make our money?… and on the other hand, if we make it too expensive then we price ourselves out of the market as Dyson did.

Just a few queries, and I hope this doesn`t come across as negative.

    Re: New Machine… 1

Not at all negative, you have to ask.

Retail is somewhere between about £800 and £850, so it isn’t cheap up front, but like-for-like with the 10 year warranty it’s very competitive. On that you’ll be making about £100 a box IIRC.

However, much like the proper AEG’s, Bauknecht’s, Miele’s and the likes of old the point is that you actually get repair work on them as they are more expensive to replace. Added into that equation is that the customer is tied to you, which means that as much of the rest of the kitchen is as well.

It’s a funny thing this and, I hope most of the pure retailers get this (I know Don will), if you sell a good machine and the customer is happy with it on your advice then that engenders huge trust. That trust will get you repeat business over a long period of time and, much more importantly, recommendation which all our businesses thrive on as personal recommendation is the most powerful advertising you can’t buy, you have to earn it.

This machine is, frankly, the brick outhouse that’s been bomb-proofed for good measure. The failure rate is desperately low until they start to hit 12+ years old, I’m not going to lie about that at all. Repair work for several years after selling one, practically zero on these.

But I’ll let Mark particularly explain the benefits of that longevity on the ASKO machines. For the rest of us that used to sell shedloads of the old Philco/Bendix because it was pretty much the same, you’ll get it.

    K.
