Some of you may recognise this one….

We will have the initial sample machine at Sibson on Friday next week.

    We’ll also have another. 🙂

We’ll also have some other interesting things for you and of course I’m not going to give it all away… where’s the fun in that? 😉

Are these serious contenders or are you trying to play one manufacturer off against another to get a better deal?
Or are you going to tell us next week?
    Or maybe not?

Sorry, how much was it again for door seal and bearing change?
Three hours it took me last Thursday to replace these parts on an ASKO machine.

    Amateur! 😆

Seriously though, how old was it? I’m willing to bet it wasn’t under at least ten years old and I have never, ever, changed a set despite being an agent for Asko for a number of years a while back.

When I turned up and looked at the machine, the machine looked brand new. No rust and still gleaming. The cabinet paint had not gone an off white colour since it was sitting in full sunlight near patio doors. I asked the customer how old it was and she said the machine was 14 years old. To my supprise, the machine still had the original winding type pump with the metal clip over the filter. Even the front panel at the bottom did not fall off in my hands.

IMO, a classic machine which is still going strong and now quieter.

How does the build quality compare to the Asko of the late 1990s when I was an Asko sales dealer? They were the only machine I ever saw that rivalled Miele.

They still do, I think I said the other night to Chris that it’s built like a bomb-proofed brick outhouse. 😉

If that’s the case, I can certainly see Washerhelp recommending the (new) ISE whole-heartedly, instead of in the relatively restrained way I currently do.

I’ve just noticed the door is right hand hinged? A rare thing indeed…

Does the door fix straight onto the drum like the old ASEA and NYBORG machines?

I wonder what’s with the right hinge thing? Miele are the only others I know with the hinge on the right. Apart from the obvious occasional situation where it’s more convenient for a customer I can’t think of any reason why it is better on the right – or left for that matter.

What is the main reason for changing from what we`ve got?

I know Asko have a “better name” than Beko.

Are we having problems with the one we`re selling?

Or are we going to be selling 2 ISE machines?

    Re: New Machine… 1

We’re not changing it Barry, we’re just adding to the range a bit.

There’s no problem with the Beko produced machine at all, other than the usual odd failure that we’d all expect.

The Beko has a five year warranty but on the Asko produced machine we want to take that a step further, I’ll leave that parked until after we secure the deal. However, one thing I can tell you is that on the new machine we have pretty much got a 3 year parts and labour warranty for light commercial use, such as hairdressers, student lets, B&B’s and the likes.

    Re: New Machine… 1

The right hand hinge was always the sign of a quality machine in the past., until Bosch suddenly changed hands about the time the Maxx came out.
I notice this version does’nt have the drop down outer door. Looks a bit strange when spinning as the door is bobbing up and down.

the door seal on this one is fitted on the door and can be changed in 5 mins with a bit of practise, however you will probably never need to as it can be tightened by removing shims as in the old aeg machines. Again though, due to the low water levels, again it will never be a problem unless someone traps something in the door. The bearing change is not particularly quick as it involves front and rear removal and 2 special tools, one to fit the bearing seal cassetee and one to centralise the front plate. TTTT it is not something to worry about and maybe a tool set held centraly and “hired” out when needed could be good idea. I have the bearing tool but a previous employee managed to loose the centralising tool-as they do.
The front is easily removable but the machine does need tilting slightly to access the screws at the bottom. The back is also removable as are the sides (by splitting the spot welds, its not as difficult as it sounds a twist of a slotted screwdriver does the trick and the new side panels are supplied with screws) so damaged machines can be repaired easily. Infact that was a problem with Asko, nearly every appliance delivered to us was damaged and its something to look out for. Yes they are tough but due to the seperate chassis, the sides and front are not stressed and hence are not as thick steel as a conventional “box” washing machine so they will dent easily.
the only problem we get are with 5p’s in the pump outlet ….a perfet fit to act as a flap valve!
    I cannot wait!
