ParticipantCouldn’t resist posting this. I was looking for some help on the web to fix a DVD recorder that I found dumped next to my dustbin and I got sidetracked as you do, into reading the advice on other sites about how to repair washers. So have a read of this
http://www.fixya.com/support/t969692-re … ssixx_1000
and let us know if this is how you do it. 😆

Well there are people out there who would follow these instructions and regret it afterwards.
I would never do it that way, normally remove back plate and access the motor that way, with the machine still upright.
Anyway advice like that given is probably going to give us some more work putting the machine back together again.(Refiting the drum support springs, and what about any debris in the sump hose that falls back into the drum)?
Most of the Bosch machine’s that iv’e worked on don’t require any screws to be removed,(other than the mounting bolts) the brushes simply slot into the existing holders.

No, I’ve never done that with a washing machine but I have a few times with dishwashers. I didn’t like doing it and I’ve given up repairing dishwashers since then. On most machines I remove the motor to change the brushes. I must admit it is a pain on the plastic tub Bosch machines as you can’t use an electric screwdriver and you cut your hands to ribbons on the razor sharp edges of the too-small back panel opening.

I dunno, these drivers who operate camcorders while driving 😯 .
Better watch out.
Mike.
Edit: Oh, didn’t realise that was a link to a video! Was thinking Mrs P was keeping the engine warm whilst filming Mr P doing the brush change. 😆June 20, 2009 at 10:38 am #289653turbodry

I heard of one chap who actually drills holes in the back of the Bosch machines to get at the motor mounting bolts. 😯 😆
Guess who. 😉

Naughty boy (Joe) didn’t fit a cable tie. The wire may snap as it joins the connector. :rolls:

Will have to try the ratchet spanner. The 1/4″ drive socket and ratchet handle are tight against the cabinet back by the time the 2″ long screws are out.

ParticipantNever considered putting the machine on its head, always taken the motor out.
Had a Bosch machine that I was unable to remove from worktop and managed to change them from the front, taking front pannel off and putting my hands around the tub. Was very awkard but worked ok.
