Yes, but number 2 was the main enforcer, hence the connection to the mods. 8)

Chief interrogator and administrator is Number Two, but he isn’t the boss – an unseen Number One is the boss.
Could this be shared between Ken and Dave 😆

In the last, completely barking mad episode the last “You are number 6, I am the new number 2” (‘cos he changed every episodes due to failure) announced that there was actually no number 1 due to their lack of creativity, that number 6 had been brought to the village to introduce an element of randomness and that in their eyes, he was to become the new number 1.

Oh Dear……..
Once upon a time in a land far away (Wales), they made a television series called The Prisoner. No. 6 is kidnapped after resigning from his (implied) job as a secret agent and taken to The Village. Jims earlier post provides the main thesis, taken from the shows opening credits. The show is allegorical in that each episode is a vignette of the human condition and is basically the triumph of good (no. 6) over evil (no. 2). No. 2 is replaced in each episode as he is defeated by no. 6.There is a huge mystique still surrounding the show due to the last episode, which many felt was a cop-out. At a basic human level, it was simplistic to say the least – the amount that has been read into it since is mind boggling.
To this day, there are influences – the Confessional Room in The Prisoner is seen today in The Diary Room in Big Brother.
Anyway, remarkable stuff. I think the series is available on DVD these days. If you fancey spending a couple of weeks watching it and ending up completely confused, I’d recommend it to anybody.
