    I may be completely wrong here but I have never, ever fitted a dryer timer to cure this fault. EMW

    I cannot understand how poor connections inside the dryer timer can cause a voltage surge to the heater and TOC, blowing the TOC, they both work on full mains voltage anyway. 😕

    I’ve never fitted a hybrid timer to a WD in all these years – soldered up a few tracks from blown d/i s, but that’s all. Earth leakage on heater might be my thought.

    Hardly ever changed heater elements either, apart from customer misuse the biggest cause of that fault in my experience is the wiring chafing on the FHP motor plate.

    I just don’t understand how a bad timer contact can cause a voltage surge that could damage an NTC that is designed to work on 240 volts anyway. 😕
