Site very slow.?

Recently, ( just a couple of minutes ago as well) I have found that in the early to late evenings, ukwhitegoods web site slows to a crawl. In fact it has just timed out on me on my first attempt to access the site.
Anyone else having similar problems before I check things at my end, other forums I visit are not causing problems ATM.

Various reasons for it, usually it’s because (for now, but hopefully not much longer) the site is hosted on a server in Texas. So when all the Yanks wake up… 😕

A trace I have just done shows up as Verio Inc. Englewood, Colorado.

Sorry I thought it was in Austin. No matter I knew it was Verio, but that’s set to change as soon as a log hut is built.

Yes I sometimes get a time out even on 1Meg.

I know there are changes in the pipeline as Ken advised us at the last UKW meeting.

Tonight as I write this there are 30 visitors & 22 members. I thought “not bad”. Then I applied a bit of logic. Eastenders is on telly, no wonder we are all on the site.

Alex look at the stats, it’s easy to see when the stuff that appeals to the fairer sex is on the box. 😉

I also am having some strange goings on…every time i sign onto ukwhitegoods it actually cuts my connection clean off…like aol not responding…only happens on this site and nowhere else…..but if i go into ukwhitegoods another way that does not need a password i get stright on…mmmmmmmmmmmm…strange…….. there must be some ONE out there that knows what the problem is……

Yep, it’s AOL frankly. You have to add UKW as a friendly site in their browser.

I have never or will I ever use AOL so I can’t advise on how to do it, what I can advise on though is try another ISP 😉

Its like running in treacle ATM, on and of the past couple of days have been slow at all times of day. Just now it is just like the old dial up days loading any pages on my 2 meg connection. 😥

Every site seems to suffer from it, even the BBC recently, just sheer volume of traffic. 😕
