Still manage to get round my calls with farmers picking me up at the end of the farm road.
One I did late (4pm) today was a tumble dryer, knocked on the door expecting to be welcomed into the nice warm hoose but no the T/D was in the garage. Outside temp on my van was reading minus 15.
Job done and paid for with a wee bit added for frost bite, it was minus 17 when I left this morning at 8am.
Yiv tae ca canny.

What is amazing me is a lot of my customers short memories. Round here it’s a complete rerun of last Christmas and most of my customers seem only to remember that it snowed in January. Luckily in my part of Lancs it’s not too bad, it snowed last Friday and has just stayed.

have found cycling to couple of the jobs with steep long drives (but too far to go whole way on foot) be a barrel of fun, except when the cables froze so no brakes :s

Sorry to hear about your injury. I’ve given it up as a bad job so I’m not doing any more jobs until either the snow goes or some of the minor roads get ploughed.

Just wondered what you can carry and what you chose to carry when cycling to jobs, presume you aren’t on a trek madone with tyres at 120psi.
Was out on my road bike at the weekend training and after an hour my water bottle had turned to slush 🙂December 28, 2010 at 4:40 am #337322gandh1

the rucksack carrys everything i need for “assessment purposes” unless initial phonecall indicates oven element/drain pump/ etc basic first time fixes, in which case its often squidged in or hung off handlebars
