    Re: Watchdoggin

I’ll maybe watch it later on iPlayer.

TBH I can’t normally be bothered with Watchdog, it annoys me at times with the attitude they have as in, all companies are big bad scary things out to rip off customers.

    Re: Watchdoggin

Well Winkin’ Annie didn’t cover the exploding washers (as she promised last week) instead we saw some fat lecherous slob counting his ill-gotten gains slumped in the back of his old Volvo. Still, it beats reading the ins and outs of FFD safety issues I suppose.

    Re: Watchdoggin

In guessing The Italian company got it pulled. There was a notification last week that they would be on it and that a further update would be issued but nothing came.

Tbh as far a i know it’s been very small numbers that have gone and in reality you have no idea I the machine was over loaded, used with lifters missing, coin damage ect.

    Re: Watchdoggin

Rather over dramatic on Watchdogs behalf , yes it imploded, it did not walk into the bedrooms and kill the kids

    Re: Watchdoggin

Anybody else notice that the footage at the part where they’re saying it happened again with the ‘exact’ same machine was of a woman loading a Hoover washing machine and not the indesit they’re referring to at all?!?!

    Re: Watchdoggin

One of the women who was complaining how she can’t belive they can sell this stuff had a new “higher spec” Indesit in the background presumably given to her as a replacement.

Dear God, it would be a waste of breath trying to educate these people!

    Re: Watchdoggin

No doubt there will be phone calls to all of our shops tomorrow asking what the engineers recommend they do as they have a machine with the same model number, you know, the way they ask so they can show us how they won’t listen!! I almost can’t wait for it to be 2 years later so I can remind them how I advised against whatever they’ve done!

    Re: Watchdoggin

Watchdog reached 3 million homes last night and in the short time it was on air more contacted the programme to tell of their exploding washers. Whilst it may be regarded by Indesit as having insufficient failures in relation to the amount of appliances sold not to issue a recall notice. In truth it would ultimately mean a massively costly excercise for them to undertake. Therefore it is left to the individual to pursue redress against the company by insisting that their machine should be at least inspected by Indesit in order to establish if their inner drum is likely to fail in a similar fashion.

If sufficient numbers come forward and contact Indesit they will be forced to act more responsibly toward what in effect is a seriously dangerous product. The photographic evidence and witness reports alone would suggest that they have a case to answer and I believe them to be irresponsible if they continue to deny the dangers.

We in the trade have a responsibility to inform the general public of these cases. More so now in that it was broadcast on national television where Indesit actually responded to the programme acknowledging some instances of failure. That some customers have been given replacement machines and they advise others to contact the company either by phone or email. Details from the Watchdog web site:

    A spokesperson from Indesit says,
(In reference to Indesit washing machine models WIXL143 AND WIXE167)
We are very sorry that some of our consumers have experienced problems with the models that BBC Watchdog have featured.
We are aware of a technical issue that could affect a very small quantity of these Indesit washing machine models, which were manufactured between May 2007 and June 2009. Under certain operating conditions the drum seam has fractured, causing damage to the machine.
Whilst only a small percentage of machines are affected, we take consumer concerns very seriously. A risk assessment has been carried out under the General Product Safety Regulations. The assessment shows a low risk on these models, concluding a withdrawal is not necessary.
The particular cases highlighted on the programme, as well as the cases that have been brought to our attention, have been dealt with promptly and on a case by case basis.
We would also like to inform consumers that this problem does not affect any Indesit model on sale today.
Consumer Satisfaction is extremely important to us. Indesit Company apologises to our consumers for any inconvenience caused, and we reaffirm our commitment to delivering quality, reliable products.
    What consumers can do next:
If you own an Indesit washing machine WIXL143 or WIXE167 and have any concerns, please contact the Indesit Customer Service Centre on email: support@indesit.co.uk or Tel: 01733 287 843
Please have your serial number to hand when you call – it can be found on the front of the machine inside the door area.

    ——————————————————-

I don’t know what additional impact UKW would have by publicising this issue but I’m sure it wouldn’t harm trying to get the message across.
