There are some decent people out there. Twice in the last week I have had calls from from people who took the trouble of calling me to Thank me for the advise I had given them. One had a Siemens W/M, 3 years old and by the sound of it the PCB had blown, Told her that it should be covered under Siemens 5 year guarantee. The second on had a new kitchen sink fitted with a new waste grinder and complained that her dishwasher wouldn’t empty. Suggested that she checks the knock out has been removed in the the grinder as the D/W hose was attached to it. The first one had the repair covered by Siemans U/G and the second got the plumber back to sort out the waste grinder. One of them told me my phone number was in there book with a big star next to it, And the other one told me that she will pass my number on to all her friend and family. And believe me on my patch that means a lot

I have two over the last month,one was a Zannussi no drain ,I arrived ran the m/c could hear that the pump was obstructed he insisted that I had a pump on board as that is what it was ,I took the filter out to find a bra wire jamming the pmp .
I then hooked it out with a pair of long nose pliers and charged him a callout charge .
He rang back the next day to say how grateful he was that I hadn’t fitted the pmp that he insisted I had to have before calling ,and how impressed he was that I knew what it was straight away ,,and he had now reccomended me to all of his family.
the other was an ISE no spin ,when I arrived I discovered she had washed one cardigan and it had gone OOB ,I explained everything to her and left with a box of teabags 😯 Apparently she has loads of them and was so impressed by my pleasent manner that she had to give me something .

When I was a young Hotpoint engineer, two customers gave me wedding presents. 😯
Over the years I have had a large farm cured ham, free range eggs, plenty of bottles of wine & beer, freshly caught fish, loads of home grown veg.
In reality the best thing customers do is to recommend you to friends & family. 8)

i got one customer when she book call ask me what cream cake i want go es and buy them and put kettle on make me eat them first mmmmmmmmmm

Best – Smile !!!!
Worst house every been to and I mean the most disgusting!!!. Three previous engineers, inlcuding a senior Eng had all gone to this house and walked out becuase of the state of it. I was asked if I would go but line manager said I did not have to go if I didn’t want to. Poor woman was in desperation (wherever that is…) and had already been told by customer service manager that no engineers were prepared to go in to her house !!
Got there and immeidately saw why the others left…… Rancid is too soft a word… I nearly left but two young kids in school uniform that was hanging off them and disgusting… looked like they’d not been washed in months. (that’s the kids and the uniform) But the kids were happy and they were so pleased that the Mr had come to fix the washing machine……replaced inlet valve…safety check, function and out…but got big smiles and thank you Mr off the kids…but boy did they stink!!!!
About two months later another fault and customer service manager asks if I’ll go back. Went back next day (extra call..) kids were running rounds the house, happy as larry, lovely clean uniform but still living in pig sh&{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}.
Worth it to see the kids happy..
Worst
Only one house worse than the one above… called to a Hotp CTD…house right opposite the entrance to my daughters Grammer school. Go inside, hit by stench.. eventually get upstairs to the App..it’s on an extention in the Bathroom !!!!!….. I knelt down to uplug appliance and knelt in dog sh{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}$. It had a hard crust on it but when I broke the crust the smell made me start to wretch… ran downstairs outside to fresh air wretching and eventually vomited just outside customers front door…… in front of my daughter and all her class mates coming out of school…….!!!
Went back inside, removed extension cable from Bathroom, picked up tool box and went outside. Wrote out job sheet…Engineer left due to conditions and explained dangers of running the TD in bathroom the way she was (not a big bathroom and app was next to the bath/shower… extention connedtor had water marks all over it)..Never went back… My daughter was not impressed.
Another Engineer went back a few day later but said the place was fine and I must have made it all up….. Seen the woman a few times when I’ve had to go to the school…just can’t get that dog sh{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}^ out of my mind.

I returned an answerphone message from a regular customer while at the hospital with the Mrs in labour. She told me not to hurry to the call as other things were more important. Got there a week later grateful that she’d waited, to find she’d bought my lad a pair of baby shoes and got us a card.

Occassionaly they clear all the stuff (cat food , dog food , coats , boots , waste bins , clothes dryers , baskets etc.) out of the way and give you room to work :D.
It’s even been known for them to empty the cupboard under the sink to give you access to the hoses :o.Bryan

Always nice when they ring up and say thank you for your prompt service and we will recommend you to others!

Must be getting near to Christmas, Went to a customer today to write of his Smeg dishwasher. He gave me 3 bottles of wine. 1 red 1 White and a bottle of something pink, I think the boss will drink that, And as for the red he told me its a little bit tart! : 😕 Whats the best food to to eat with one of those mouth puckering reds we have all tasted and pretended we like? You can tell I’m not a wine expert. Now if it was Larger, Hic, Hic 😆
