It was craaaaaawwwwwling very slow this early PM (can’t recall the time) so I logged out. (Took around 2 mins to log off UKW at that time)…but it’s fine again now. 😀

The site was running a lot quicker this morning on Google Chrome than IE which was very sluggish.
Saying that though IE has speeded up this afternoon 😕

it is slow, without a doubt. Its also harder to navigate around, thought I would get up to speed with it but I haven’t. Dont seem to look at half the stuff I used to. Maybe new users dont find a problem but for us lifers (me, anyway) its a chore compared to the old site, sorry but thats how it is.

In what way?
TBH the basic structure of the forums hasn’t changed so I don’t understand that.
If I understand the problem then I may be able to do something about it but, without knowing what it is I’m pretty stumped.
The search is still not what everyone wants including me, get that, doing something about it but I want it to be a bit more useful.
It’s probably just a case of getting used to it but thus far I’ve not really had much of an issue beyond the cr4ppy search function. But then, we’re all used to how well Google etc. works and this ain’t got a mini-Google as an engine for search.

This is sort of straying off topic but it’s like any change, it takes a bit of getting used to but I like it better than the old one.
One thing I would like , if it is possible, is when you click on view new posts and end up with a list of the new posts can the topic headings be in a different colour from the rest of the writing?

maybe its just me, I have never once used the “view new posts” as I have just always navigated around the site, seems now I am just clicking and waiting and just get fed up really and a lot is passing me by.
I think the old general trade forum was a better title than the “industry matters,” and the sub forums are all just confusing.
If the numbers are up though Ken dont worry about it, maybe I will just get used to it but for now, after a month or whatever I aint feeling it at all.April 11, 2011 at 6:32 pm #348728Martin

Ah, the view new posts thing is brilliant, saves so much fluffing about and, this one works properly unlike the last one. One click and you see all the new posts on one page and, unlike the old one, they don’t disappear when you click a topic!
But to get the old view, you can go to the board index and click on the main forum headers, for example, for the trade forums it’s this view you get. Same for all the rest and you can drill down like that, that’s the reason for making them sub-forums, you can zoom in on what interests you better.
As for the industry matters thing, I can change the heading back. The old heading just didn’t go so well for some reason, can’t recall why now.

Not a big fan of the new site I have to say. Hoping I will get the hang of it soon 😥

Yes sorry to say I find navigation a bit tiresome now with the sub-headings making it a bit more tricky. 😐

In the last month I upgraded my lap-top & home computer to Windows 7
Then I switched from IE-8 to Google Chrome.
As Win 7 doesn’t support Outlook Express I moved over to Firebird.
The old Hotmail account I use for log-ins when browsing such sites as insurance queries etc (saves my normal e-mail address being littered by junk e-mail), I moved to G-Mail.
I upgraded MS Office to 2010 version, meaning Word & Excel has been re-formatted as well
All this was done in the same week, and then finally the changes on this site.
In the grand picture of things as I have moved out of my comfort zone for most things I.T. related, the UKW changes are insignificant.
All I miss is seeing who else is sad enough to be online when I am.
Nothing is forever.
