    Hi IP
it,s probably the drive coupling. Tip machine back enough for you to get under at front, disconnect pump from motor(spring clip), and then motor from gearbox(2 screws). On the end of the motor you will find a rubber drive type thing with 2 white plastic pieces with three fingers, which interlock through the rubber drive. usually one or both of the plastic pieces are broken. Part number 481932528035 @ £9.08 +vat from Connect or £10.88 +vat from Masterpart.
    Hope this helps

I have lifted out detergent cap, and then clear plastic cover with wings which has a rubber o ring around it but no sign of a bolt head.

Thanks for the reply mark, appliance is out of warranty. But was advised by Smeg that back board was most likely cause. It wasn’t, so that’s why I asked the question here. Smeg tech also inferred that ice could be down to defrost stats.

    Hi Phil,
if the foreign object is magnetic, a large magnet (like the large circular one out of a tv ) inside the drum and turn slowly till magnet is at 12 o’clock then release magnet and catch stuck item.
