First thing I noticed was ice bridging the fridge evaporator panel to one of the glass shelves. I thought some food had been pushd too far back so cleared the ice and made sure there was nothing bridging the gap. Kept an eye on it and found that the panel always had ice beads on it rather than droplets.
Turned it down to number 1 and stays pretty much the same. One spot in particular (by the shelf) has the most ice, but I don’t think that is of particular relevance.
As stated, I do have another similar model, so was able to check control units and they are identical, so swapped them over. Problem remains.
Freezer appears good.
Lots on here and on the Whitegoods guides about thermistors so assuming that is the problem and reason for this post.
Understood re the age of the appliance but a simple and cheap fix would be good rather then cart it off to the tip.

New ‘old part’ controller PCB arrived from eBay this morning. Appears to be doing the business. Selected a wash cycle and pressed start and away she goes. Will check it pumps out and finishes and return it to whence it came.

Yes all makes sense, many thanks. Really don’t want to throw too much at it. Good money after bad and all that. Just had an offer accepted on a used but good part from eBay so we’ll see how that goes.

Ok….the connector where the damage occurred is a 9-way and it connects directly, on a one to one basis, to a 9-way on the motor.
I have metered out the wires from the motor connector to the back of the pcb tracks. i.e with the connector in place on the PCB and all measured out OK.
I then metered out the motor and took some notes and then fitted the connector to the motor and metered again from the tracks on the back of the PCB.
All appeared to be in order connection wise.
These are my results. I can see what some of the wires are but not others hence the ?? I have colour coded wires which connect to each other through armature or tacho etc

1 ?? Measures .5 ohm to pin 3
2 Brush measures 3 ohms to pin 6
3 ?? Measures .1 ohm to pin 7
4 Tacho measures 40 ohms to pin 5
5 Tacho measures 40 ohms to pin 4
6 Brush measures 3 ohms to pin 2
7 ?? Connects to pins 1 and 3
8 ?? Measures .1 ohm to pin 9
9 ?? Measures .1 ohm to pin 8

Optimism gone.

Damage was a bit too close to the connection edge to repair without fouling the plug position so I brought 2 wires off the PCB and connected them to the loom itself.
All good and sound but problem persists. I am guessing control PCB has gone south ??

The totally o/c track is the second track but the first track has taken collateral damage and probably only has 5{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} remaining.

When you look at the motor windings and brushes it’s hardly surprising the pcb tracks struggle.

Thanks…Well..you inspired me to go and remove the control board. (The machine is now in my garage). Lo and behold, one open circuit section of track. I will trace the loom tomorrow and see where it goes. The track connects to one of a bunch of 3 relays.
The track itself should be a straightforward repair. Relay contacts might be questionable I guess.

In our case it was easy as the hose connects under the sink and there was a straight length of 22mm pipe. We just cut out a small section of pipe and fitted a “22mm tee with 3/4″ branch” then screwed in “3/4″ x 1/2″ bush” then screwed in the “arrestor”

I have just added this update to my similar thread :-

“We added a shock arrestor which made it a bit quieter (subjective observation only) and also turned down the fill tap. Combined result is that it is now a lot quieter.
With the fill tap completely off (as a test) the machine just makes a barely audible click so it is water inrush/flow stop/start that we are hearing”

Thanks. That would make sense but I have seached high and low and cannot find anyone listing a support wire or similar. The upper grill element does have one actually as part of the element.
Would appreciate if anyone can shed light on obtaining a support wire. Any exploded views out there ?

Would still like to know if the upper single element in the bottom main oven is supported by anything other then the fixing bolt at the back.
