ParticipantRe: Indesit W143 only works when empty
thanks checked again and the brushes are worn again after only two washes. I checked and the commutator is all pitted and parts of it broken so looks like a new motor required.

Hi thanks for the reply – I only installed new brushes 2 days before the latest issue so maybe I made a mistake. I’ll check them.
BTW should the carbon parts be touching the rotating part of the motor or not? they come with a clip on them to hold the block in but wan’t sure of I should remove them to allow the carbon to brush the spinning part.

Hi, i took your advice and removed the carbon brushes. they look pretty worn – online around 3-5 mm left on them so I need to order a set. Can you advise the correct ones?

thanks, I tried this again yesterday, but light does not flash now. It stays solid while the timer is clicking round and when finished. It seems that every time i switch on the machine i get a different response. sometimes just the clicking, occasionaly some water pumps into the machine then nothing after that. Other times nothing happens at all. Seems to me that the machine is totaly scrambled so might be better to cut my losses and buy a new one.
