    Re: Bosch SGV53E03GB flood

    Thanks all

The update is that a local repair shop came to see the machine. Having switched it on, water was again running out onto the floor. The man said he felt it was coming from the pump. A week ago he took the machine away to his workshop to investigate further. Today, his associate called to say that it needs the seal kit around the pump replacing and the whole job will be £199.47. What I didn’t understand is why if water was getting into the bottom tray, a float switch had not turned off the inlet. The engineer’s associate felt that the switch would not work that way, and that it would keep the pump going so as to remove the water. So I suppose I am wondering whether he will replace the seal kit around the pump and then we will find that something else is happening. But then, I am not a dishwasher engineer.

If you have any thoughts, I would be grateful to hear from anyone. I said I would sleep on it and call him tomorrow to say whether I want it repaired. I guess I already owe him a few pound notes for his trouble so far…

Thanks again, do you have ideas about what it could relate to?
As I won’t know what I’m looking for it will mean that I’ll have to get an engineer to visit, which is why I wonder how the possible repair cost will stack up, seeing as the machine is the age it is.

    Re: Bosch SGV53E03GB flood

    Thanks Martin

Water was dripping down from underneath the bottom tray, directly behind the screw that is used to adjust the height of the rear foot. If I hadn’t seen it in time, it would have flooded across my floor and into the flat below.

    Thanks

Thanks to each of you – rather than trying to get the glass fragments out, if I were to try to replace the complete lamp unit, would that be easier or would it be difficult to do?

    Cheers

Thank you Martin. Any idea as to how I could get the remaining broken glass ring out of the thread?

Just completed the job. In fact, it was accessed via the removable plastic cover underneath the machine. I don’t think the back comes off at all.

Re: Induction hob AEG 78001KF-N and IKEA FRAMTID HINF4T

It’s been a little while since I originally posted. I haven’t found the money to get this fixed, as I was asked for over £600 by ServiceForce…

Since then I’ve been using 2X ALDI £25 induction plug-in hobs. They work just fine.

I want to ask about an induction hob I saw in IKEA – it is the same size as my AEG (71cm), so will fit the hole in the counter top. It even looks like it and the power specs are the same. Would any of you chaps know if it is made by the same manufacturer? The IKEA one is only £399 and has a free 5 year guarantee.

    Cheers

I still have this problem – tonight the thing won’t come on at all.

I’d be really grateful for any advice.

    Thanks

Re: Bosch SGV53E03GB won’t stop pumping out

    Update.

I remembered reading a forum where a man with a different machine had written about his reset buttons. On his machine, he had to hold in the two reset buttons while he switched on the power, so I tried it that way.

The pump didn’t come on, the third and fourth switches lit up and stayed on. I powered it down, then when I put the power back on, it acted quite normally – no pumping and one function switch lit, which I could select between all programme buttons. Just normal.

I have since then run a rinse cycle and a regular 50 wash, all okay.

Maybe it was stuck in a logic loop after all. I don’t understand why a different way of using the reset buttons would work, I’m just glad it did. It’s fingers crossed from now on, but I won’t any longer be opening the door part-way through a cycle. It just isn’t worth the risk.

    Thanks, NomadPaul, for your involvement.

As an aside, when I was taking off the base board and decor panel, I noticed a few things that the builders could have done better. For example, they did not install a plate that is supposed to be fixed to the underneath of the worktop, above the dishwasher door. I have a digital version of the installation instructions that shows it should be there.

What it doesn’t show is a part number or name for any of the parts. Does anyone have a parts list? Or can you tell me what that piece is called?

Also, they had the three dishwasher feet sitting on blocks of wood. I took one of them out and lowered that foot to the floor, and that is about 80mm. The diagram shows it should be 0 – 60mm. I don’t want the feet falling off, but I don’t know how long they actually are. Surely they wouldn’t make them so short that, to fit into a normal height of counter, the machine would have to sit on blocks?

As before, any help would be much appreciated.

Re: Bosch SGV53E03GB won’t stop pumping out

Okay, I managed to get the decor panel off. Before looking at anything else (as I wasn’t sure about the outer door), I looked at the plate at the bottom. Two screws came out and the metal plate came off, attached to a plastic unit that is fixed within the door, on the right hand side. The plate came away enough for me to be able to see that there is no water at all in the bottom of the machine housing. I also managed to get some kitchen paper in and it came out dry.

Thanks for your help so far. Any other ideas would be very gratefully received.

    Thanks.

Re: Bosch SGV53E03GB won’t stop pumping out

    Thank you.

I have removed the kick board but I can’t see how to drain water. The machine is built-in so I can’t lean it back or forward. There is one large screw head that faces to the front. It has arrows going anti-clockwise around it, but I don’t know what it does.

I wish I could post some pics, but I don’t think this forum has that function.

    Any more help, please…..

I don’t know that this was the case before, but the CHECK WATER SUPPLY lamp is now lit.

Re: Bosch SGV53E03GB won’t stop pumping out

I powered the machine up this morning and it is still doing the same thing. I decided to try closing the water tap at the stopcock, but that spray I mentioned earlier is still spraying – I suppose it is a recirculation device.

    Help, please.
