DDSDDS wrote:i would charge just under a hundred for that job but the price is fair the work is arduous, and the “barrel clamp” is a nightmare the shaft can be worn even though you may not think so upon inspection so changing the bearings would just be a temporary measure.
servis are not good machines have a scan through these forums for our opinions on said appliance then see if your mother would be better with a better machine i know the initial outlay is a lot but buying a good brand reccomended by an engineer on this site would save more of her pension in years to come. as you may do the repair and have a module fault next week, at least with a new machine comes a new guarantee:)

there are many good machines out there and a lot of rubbish just research what you get and ask for our opinion on the model you intend to buy as we ARE IMPARTIAL.

we cannot give a step by step guide on doing the repair but we can answer specific questions for you.
but as i said in my opinion get shut buy another:)
a hundred quid is a significant chunk towards a new machine..

cheers DDSDDS i know what your saying m8 and respect your knowledge,i repaired a washing machine years ago, same problem(bearings)it wasnt too hard to do,the only problem i had was getting the barrell clamp back on because it seemed to small, the bolt that went through didnt seem long enough when fitting it back on.if u know what i mean, have you got any tips on getting that back on as i am going to take a gamble,i know you all are saying i am wasting my time but i just have been layed of so i have got plenty,,,,thanx fo your knowledge

    Re: servis m3102a-s noise problem

cheers for the replies,,stil thinking of replacing bearing, the engineer wanted £130 for just doing them,,,would it be hard just to do them…i mean it costs about £15 for a new set of bearings, surely it must be worth a try to save my mother some of her pension lol

OK,got an engineer out for a quote,he said the bearings had gone and wanted £130 to do it,how hard would it be for me to do it and what tools would i need and what would it entail,do i need to take the drum ou or can it be done without taking it out

could u confirm he the engineer is right, what happened was the machine stopped half way through a wash, then after that nothing else would work, only the red light comes on,does that sound about right to you
