ParticipantRe: BEKO ZA630W Freezer
Wow, thanks for the swift response.
Is the flap the whole plastic thing that covers the front of the shelf and looks like a drawer front? He has managed to snap off one of the plastic prongs on the flap which fit into the side of the freezer and forms the hinge.
Where can I get one from? Is it Beko?
Thanking you in anticipation, Coco x

ParticipantCouldn’t get the reset to work, but rang Smeg this am and they are coming sometime on Thursday – I’ll post the outcome as I haven’t found another E8 error code query and it might help someone.
Thanks for all the help –

ParticipantRe: Brand New Smeg DW shows Error Code E8
Thanks for that Penguin. I’m off to tesco to stock up on salt, etc when they open. I’ll dump the 3 in 1 tablets at work for our DW there!!
I will have a go at the reset when I have had enough caffeine to feel confident. Like the poster on the link you sent me I also think it is the overflow safety cut out (although how it can have overflowed when I haven’t used it is a bit of a puzzle!). I will let you know how I get on.
It is a lovely looking machine – all stainless steel, looks fab in my new kitchen, thanks also for the reasurance about the brand quality. I’m just dissappointed I can’t use it yet!

ParticipantRe: Brand New Smeg DW shows Error Code E8
Hi Dave
Thanks for the advice about the tabs, I never knew that.
I have put 3 in 1 tabs for years in my ancient Ariston DW which I used until yesterday- I only bought the Smeg today and like I say, I can’t get it to work so I have no idea if the tabs over-foam or not (suspect they might well do so as we have VERY soft water where I live and I also have this problem with my washing machine if I accidentally use too much product in it). They are all I have in at the moment. I wondered if one reason might be that it has sensors that can detect that I haven’t put any salt in (although I have put in the required litre of water in the salt recepticle) or rinse aid. I had no idea till I got it home that it preferred the 3 products rather than the tablets and I shall do whatever it recommends when I can get it to work. in fact i will go to the supermarket tomorrow and get the salt, rinse aid and powder and give it another go.
If this fails I will invoke the guarantee on Tues (after bank holiday) but before I do this I wondered if I was doing anything blindingly obvioulsy wrong. I note from other posters that there is a “reset” procedure for this model (I have searched the forums twice now and whilst there are a lot of references to the reset procedure, there are no instructions that I can find as to how to do it). I can’t find any in the manual either unless it is holding in the programme start button for 5 seconds (which I have done) or to try to cancel the programme (which I have also done) but to no avail.
I think the fault may lie with a solenoid in the chunky thingymajig near the connector on the water feed pipe as the error code E8 is “no water to the baskets” yet there is nothing impeding the flow of water that I can think of.
Any advice welcome – I know you are all very knowledgable and you saved me a packet when my cooker decided not to work a few weeks ago.
TIA, Coconut
