I’m a new convert as you can tell, sorry its taken so long to get here 😳
I am a ex-Merloni franchise, badly in debt, very lucky to still be married, and very, very p@@@@d off with them!
I was a franchise for 4 happy years, Merloni ran it well, engineer’s received roughly £2,500 to £3,500pcm, that was doing 10/12 calls a day, and non-Corgi!
Then chaos descended.
Why, for the love of god, did they take over Hotpoint? Hotpoint had no franchise, did not want franchise, and simply detested franchise as they had no control over them, our days were numbered 🙁
Merloni moved their management to Peterborough, allowed Hotpoint to run the British operation, trained us all up with the E-mit system, then proceeded to ruin us all.
Within a year over 60 franchise had gone bust, mainly due to Hotpoint’s accounts department, who are simply useless, some months they paid you either nothing, less than £500, or you owed them….?
They increased parts/van stock payments, you as the franchise paid less 40{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}, used the part, they then charged you full price for a replacement, that meant you paid them 60{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} more for that part, hardly friendly huh?
They had a cracking idea where recalls were concerned, under Merloni I had a 4{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} average per month on recalls, on over 250 calls a month I didn’t think that was too bad, still annoying, but not bad, under Hotpoint we were all hit with an average of -£750/900pcm recall deduction, that equate’s to roughly 34{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}pcm, I felt suicidal!
We used to be able to get into E-mit & find out where they had made their mistake, re-bill them, wait for 2 months, receive the discrepancy, and be working on the previous 2 months mistakes.
Then they closed the access, you couldn’t go back further than 1 week, then just 1 day, they truly sewed that one up 😕
I could go on for much longer, but, after a period of sheer hell, there appears light at the end of a long tunnel, it has taken me & my long suffering, angel of a wife, a whole year to get back on track, all thanks to Hotpoint/Indesit=Merloni.
I hope this rant dissuades decent, hardworking, competent engineers from ever taking a franchise with them, I am in regular contact with a local Hotpoint engineer who now tells me, they take on franchise, pay them decent invoices for 3/4 months, then start the fun & games, most are gone within a year & a half.
Thanks for taking the time to read it, if it stops 1 engineer getting ripped off badly it will be worth it.
