This is a lovely love in :colour:
Good to see so many of us out there lurking in the shadow’s, I know 4 here at 322 who only ever read the posts, you got to join in surely, especially when we are being lied about 😉
Alex, the moral is low at the moment, I believe its the same all over the place within retail, manuf, indep’s service, its a hard, dirty job, which ultimately you get little or no thanks for, but with so many crap appliances out there, at least we all have work 😉
Bagman, Penguin, you will always have a welcome at Comet service, we luv you guys too you know…. 😯
Smartin, good to see your in my region in the Fantasy footy, I am about 690th at the mo, mainly coz they are all Italians(its in the blood) so I am cr*p basically, and have no chance of getting me hands on the plasma!
Dales elec’s, thanks for the welcome, I have been a member on here since 2005, but like an idiot I forgot my password, she who must be was cleaning out some old notecards & found the log in & pass for here, its easily the best site out there for D.A’s, and god knows what we would all do without it.
I have read some of helo’s posts, most made me laugh, I agreed angrily with a lot, one or two made me want to call the police….. 😮 So, think of me as a helo mini-me, any inside goss I can divulge, without getting myself the sack, or worse(getting demoted to HDP) I will, although I will always stick up for our engineer’s.
Can I smoke some drugs now…… 😯

As for turning the ships round at our docks, we still have a couple of WW2 ack ack guns mounted up on the waterside, that should sort it 😉

No matter how close I get to you on there, I have no chance on here!!
Have you ever spoke to Malc Dawes about the training side of things??
God help UKWG now that we are both on here lol!!!!

Hi helo…. 😯
Sorry you have been a bit of a voice in the wilderness mate, I am fully back on here now, as you can see I joined in 2005, just when I left Merloni & joined Comet.
I am extremely vociferous in the defence of our colleagues, mainly because we know how ‘kin hard they work, and the skill levels they have, and I also know what is out there parading as manuf/ indep engineers, glass houses definitely spring to mind.
As we have said, if we all respect & work together, and have the crack at a few iffy manufacturers expense (ahem) then the knowledge share is beneficial to us all.
I am on the forum mate, I am the second highest poster on there, I have posted on there today, my initials are T.O, so I am now trying to work out who you are 😀
Cheers

Glad to have raised a smile Kwatt, although obviously a serious matter, it is mad what Haier have told us, how we gently tell the cust’s that is another issue!
At least the top brass are on to it & doing something about it, rather than letting it drag on for another 6 months, then we go into peak totally snowed under.
Its an embarrasment for Comet, but we’ll get over it, a needle in a big haystack of products.

ParticipantRe: REDUNDANCIES AT COMET
By the moniker I think you can tell who I work for, and I am proud of that too, having been a Merloni franchisee, who was shafted right royally after 5 years loyal service, the best move I made was taking the job at Comet.
I dont know who this pup is, literacy is not his strong point I would wager, but pop in for a trade test anytime mate, far more fail than get in I can easily guarantee, I love the mis-conception about Comet white engineers.
All are rear line refrigeration qualified, most are corgi, I & others also have 16 edition, the basic stuff is the laundry, cookers, DW’s, & dryers, so I really dont feel as a Comet engineer I have anything to be ashamed about, far from it, we are far more clued up than most, and we have already rolled out Arcadia range training, with full co-operation from Merloni, another manufacturer who gives us training their own engineers recieve, we already are using the smartcard & readers, etc, etc.
So, thank you to the independants who have stated the case in our defence, we are all joined, one way or other, those others who have the obnoxiously ignorant view, basically are idiots, who really dont have a clue what they are talking about.
But the trade test still stands, its a cracker, a idiot will have no chance 😉

ParticipantRe: Has Comet finally seen sense!?
Obviously no one on here knows what we bought them for, and as we all know its the GM that counts, but with these heaps of cacka it aint worth the bottom line.
The biggest laugh I have had in my capacity, was to try & contact Haier Technical, I got some complete monkey who gave me an alternative number, which turned out to be their aftersales, phoned him back, and he denied ever speaking to me, then you know for sure these are a shower outfit
I implore all of you, please leave well alone, the burning comes from a brush carriage too large for the comm, so you replace the brushes, then a a day later the pcb goes, replace that then you get o.o.b, which Haier have really given their wisdom on, get the cust to stop the appliance, wring out the clothes, then re-spin……. :shake:
Hey, win some, lose some.
Right, onto the Merloni smartcard training, what could go wrong…….?

ParticipantRe: Indesit WG1034T leaking
No problems, love your biscuits by the way 😉
He will definitely need a new motor with him, tell your landlord its not rotating or spinning at all but is draining the water, he should come with a new motor and speed control module.
There is a chance he can silicone seal the clamp band & re-tighten, that will get you up and running again, if its a really bad leak however we will need to replace the tank, that will mean ordering the bits, the launderette will get a bit of usage.
Save all your receipts, and post them off to the service centre address in the top left hand corner of your job sheet he will give you.
Be as assertive as you can, we do actually like that….errr some of us 😯

ParticipantRe: Indesit WG1034T leaking
Hi shortbread,
I am a Comet engineer(hence the moniker) & I am very motivated(ahem, thanks penguin), also I am ex-Indesit.
The leak is down to the rear tank clamp band, when you call us out again demand that the engineer takes off the back panel, no faffing around with dispenser’s, and that he checks all around the band, he will find the dripping just above the motor, hence the intermittant spin.
The only cure is a new front & rear tank, as its plastic it expands and contracts through the wash, after a period of time this can cause the clamp band to slightly loosen.
I am sorry we have not diagnosed properly up till now, more product training required 😳
If the engineer contradicts this please get him to call Bez at 368, he will know the service centre.
Cheers.

You mean the little pens in the store for filling out the coupon with? Busted through a tub? says a lot for the quality of the tub.
Absolutely, I searched everywhere else for any other potential cause, no coins in the pump housing, nothing stuck under the heater bracket, hoses clear.
The gap between the door seal & inner drum is significant enough to allow a fair sized object to pass through, a tiny Argos pen was not high on my list of potential causes.
Just shows what we have all to come in the future, manafacturers probably wont go back to enamel tanks, its great that they are recyclable, do they have to be so flimsy though? 😉

ParticipantRe: Who Do You Think You Are Kidding…
Well said one and all, Servis, Beko, Ines*it, absolutely unreliable, throwaway rubbish.
Even the more highly regarded are raising eyebrows though, I had a tub change on a LG 1400 direct drive a couple of weeks ago, first visit found a hole the size of my fist by the sump hose, unusual, I pondered, asked the usual questions to the not impressed customer, no bra wire’s or anything else un-accounted for though.
I returned 3 days later with tub & bits, still intrigued, after whipping the old tub out & removing the front & rear tub fixing bolts, I found the offending tub killer, a Argos pen 😯 !
The cust was as bemused as I was, suffice to say they probably wont be buying LG again.
God help us all if that’s all it takes 😕

Hi Penguin,
I am an ex Merloni engineer, 100pc certain I know what has failed.
Would it be ok to advise, or is it not a good idea?
Cheers
