    Re: Currys/Comet Merger?

Its quite old news this though Kwatt, and it really has no foundation, there are no plans for a KESA buyout of DSGi, so we can put that to bed, it isnt happening.

The Best Buy rumour is strong, granted, but there possibly could be a very interested party, who wishes to snap Comet up from KESA, and who could more than match Best Buys size…..possibly.

So, being a KESA shareholder at the moment is not a bad place to be, it could be much worse, but the market is as it is, and who knows whats to come next week/month?

Hopefully I was vague, without being obnoxious?? 😀

    Re: Currys/Comet Merger?

Trying to be rather careful here, but there is no merger happening in the forseeable, although personnel are definitely jumping from a sinking ship, to a more boyant one.

I am sorry if that sounds conceited, when it really shouldn’t, especially after what I have heard this fine pm, but it does appear DSG are in a worse position than Kesa.

It would be no different to the marketplace however if we did merge, as has already been posted, there is still a lot of competition out there, we may all benefit as consumers if we did? As a Kesa shareholder however, I hope we dont.

    Interesting times indeed 😉

    Re: Rising fuel costs

Just as an example of the costing’s neptune, a 1p increase in diesel costs us well over £30,000 a month, thats just on our home delivery service, and without taking into account all the engineers, and managers with company cars.

To put it mildly, I am glad I am under the company fuel scheme, and not as I was 5 yrs ago under my own business, still doing roughly 400 miles a week, nowadays that would equate to £300+ a month in fuel, truly scary!

Has anyone seen that fuel converter that you can stick onto your fuel pipe, its only for diesel, but it can add another 120 miles to the fill up, must be worth a look?

😳 I stand corrected chaps, I heard on radio 4 news this morning though that Scotland is still rising, so are parts of England, although N.I is the worst for falling.

Its only a inflated correction anyway, people who’s house prices are so over inflated, they deserve a price reduction. Its not a real calamity, although if you believe what you read it is, just a re-levelling out of a more realistic market.

Anyone else agree or am I on me tod with this one??? 😆

    Hi i,

Sorry mate, as I stated, it’s a regional thing, I live in a area of Hampshire where house prices are expected to rise this year, definitely NOT fall, so I dont think my heads too buried.

Although saying that, when I am wandering the street’s, drinking wine out of a brown paper bag, with WHY? constantly revolving in my head, then I will come on here and offer a full apology 😀

    Until then……trust no-one :protest:

    Much of a muchness Paul,

The usual suspects with a condensor dryer, (a) condensor blocked or (b) inlet feed round the wrong way or (c) ntc/thermistor gone?

On the fault code page I think I saw a test procedure for these, if not I could pm it to you?

    Cheers

    Re: Currys Staff Cull

Not silenced, just away with the wife for a long wknd, I do have a life away from the innernet…just 😆

So MM & KW, the salacious inside news, well, high end is still selling, but its a regional thing by the looks, the low end is a struggle, but honestly, who isnt finding it tough?

I am a annoying, optimistic sod, who can only see the light ahead, not at the end of the tunnel, I dont believe this “credit crunch” is as bad as all & sundry are making out, we are NOT in recession, or a depression, and house prices are stable throughout the country too, so someone’s making money out of the scaremongering?

Anyone else believe in conspiracy theory’s, or is it just me….. 😯

    Re: bosch wff 2001

    Hi tvr1,

The black dust is brush residue from the motor, it is very common in all older appliances, and it gets everywhere 😀

The failing to rinse/spin sounds like an external drainage fault, the appliance cannot drain the water away in the time it should, the appliance will stop rather than spin with water still to drain.

If you are connected to a spigot under the sink, disconnect, blank off the spigot, put the hose into your sink, then get the appliance to drain, if it drains & continues happily to the finish you have a blockage somewhere within your pipework.

If thats the case, best contact someone through this site who is local to you & who are all reputable, basically they wont rip you off 😉

    Cheers

    Re: Homeserve Franchises?

My fingers were well & truly burnt when Merloni in their infinite wisdom, gave the running of the company in the UK to Hotpoint.

The franchise worked up till that point, £30,000+ a year, good stock rotation, 12/13 calls in a local p.a.g, excellent backup from the local regional manager, and the old Uxbridge centre.

Hotpoint killed it all stone dead, incorrect invoice payment from then on, useless stock replenishment, 12 calls all over the place, a total w****r as a new regional manager, & Peterborough…enough said!

If Homeserve are worse, any one taking this franchise deserves our sympathy, hopefully everyone reads these warnings, and steers well clear, its not worth the grief, stress, financial nightmare, and possible end to your marriage

And now for some retail good news 😀

Comet profits up 2.7{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}, expected growth this year as well, albeit in line with the current financial constraints.

Continued emphasis on D.C.J & deep knowledge, which will only be for our valued customers benefit.

Continued recruitment, training, and relevant bonuses for stores, after sales services, hdp’s.

And a further expansion of our D2 stores in 13 major Citys throughout the UK, which highlight Comet’s desire to show the rest the way ahead, and how a major electrical retailer should present itself.

Is there really any confusion now as to the differences between the pair of us?

    Back of the net…. 😆

    Hi hpoint,

The old black key is not supposed to be able to prog Arcadia as the processor does not recognise it, how the heck are you doing it, or are you referring to the EVO2 boards?

    Cheers

    Re: Indesit Smart Card Reader

Helo is right, the old test key can only be used on the EVO2 boards, it does not work on the new Arcadia board.

Also, if your little green light on your smart reader does not stay permanent green then the data has not transferred, so the card will not have wiped.

It does appear that the new(?) EVO2 welded eeprom boards already have data on them, all we are doing is re-prog’ing them.

    Luv Merloni or what!!
