ParticipantRe: HOTPOINT WM32S
Following on to the above, for the first time ,I’ve attempted the bearing change on a WMA (washer….my arse), and I think It’ll be the last.
Even as a workshop job for the hell of it with every tool available its got me beat.
1. Are the hex screws welded into the spider?? broken hexes, broken drills, empty can of wd40 and still they laugh at me…..masterpart have none available…..Doh!
2. When I finally got the split collar out (the drilled groove method) and the new bearings in, put the sprung seal in place and ..Hey Presto Stuck solid bearings. Am i missing something or does the spring sit onto the inner bearing collar.Give up.

Thanks Martin,
I’ll get onto it tomorrow, Masterpart seem to have run out of steam on it(i.e. why don’t you ring whooever: cue 20 minutes of classical music).
Cheers again

ParticipantRe: What is the most useful tool in your toolbox?
14″ kebab skewer with hooked end for getting to those difficult bra wires (customer,”and what does that bit of wire do?”). Also useful for Hpt condenser drier doors and w/d condensers.

You could try Discount Domestics in Preston Town Centre, their Hoover and Candy graded stuff is good even at retail prices.Tony C

😀 Thanks for the info guys. You may have made an old lady very happy…….not me, the customer. By the way, in praise of the site, its great to have this access to what was getting a very lonely occupation.
Ta!
