Sorry – let me put some more detail on this.
When I switch the washer on, none of the programme lights show up. They can then be set by repeated pushing of the buttons. As soon as I push any of the buttons, the pause light starts flashing.

Fiddled with the Zanussi site and managed to download the standard user manual. Suggests that the inlet filter might be blocked (doubt it as this is a sudden problem). Anyway, took the hose off the back of the washer and the fliter looks clean (should it come out for cleaning ?).

Lost the manual and can’t find anywhere to download it from. Zanussi site is rather less than helpful

Replaced the 55 degree stat and it’s now fine.
Thanks for your help.

Thanks, Dave & Penguin.
I did retry (ever the optimist !), but it didn’t work.
From what you say, it looks like the 55 degree stat has blown, not the 65 ?
The reason I keep on with this is that I’ve looked at newer dishwashers and they aren’t anywhere near as nice as this older one. Thanks for your help.

I got a more electrically-minded friend in to help and did some more investigation (got fed up with washing up).
There us a white component on the outside of the heater – one of the spade connectors was a bit loose and there was some heat damage to the cable. Any idea what that component is ?
The 55 degree thermostat (which is red with red wires) looks OK (ie there is a circuit through it) but the 65 degree does not have a circuit through it, so I assume it needs replacing (??).
These 2 thermostats were in a holder with space for a third (but none present, and no spare wiring either). Penguin referred to a safety stat, which is presumably there in some models (??).
If this all looks like it adds up to me needing a new 65 degree thermostat, then I want to get one but wouls appreciate some confirmation.
Many thanks

My dishwasher blocks occasionally. I’ve had a lot of success clearing it with a normal plunger – might work for you as well.
This is not a technical reply !

Penguin,
Thanks for the part numbers. It’s not working on 55 or 65, but the 55 light comes on when I press the button.
