Okay, my parents switched the whole system off anyway and defrosted it. Upon re-start I did as you said and all seems fine to date 🙂

When I was switching on and off in the service program I could hear two clicks each time but on occasion there was just one click. I’m presuming that was the valve sticking.
Anyway, thus far all seems to be fine.

Oh..and another thing, BSH-MAN, I’m no expert so I don’t really know but would the freezer compartment still work fine if the valve were stuck?

I only ask because I’d presume the divertor to then work the fridge only and not the freezer. Unless of course it’s stuck partially.

Thanks for the replies.

If it’s going to be an expensive repair I don’t think it’s worth getting repaired by an engineer, given it’s age.

I’ll have a go at unsticking the valve as you say but how do I activate the service program, BSH-MAN? 🙂
