This one’s a Whirlpool machineman 😉
It should be displaying an error code of some sort, you can check these against the “known fault codes” for Whirlpool at the start of this forum.

I can confirm the dating for you, the 18 months is correct as the unit was 1st produced in 2003.
As Penguin says, let us know your postcode, someone here should be able to help with a service visit.

This one is a Haier made unit but I wouldn’t be at all surprised if it wasn’t the common hinges Penguin mentioned.
If you have look at them both here:

Other than that, if you email me a piccie of yours I’ll be able to tell.

mrcrow wrote:do i need to buy a special 6 pointed star screwdriver to get the screws out or is there a ‘tip’ on modifying an ordinary or phillips screwdriver to do this job
It’s called a torx 😀
mrcrow wrote:finally since you mentioned oven out…are the 4 screws which go through the side cheeks into the carcase all that holds it in
Normally yes.

Please do not tamper any further, you need an engineer !!
And please do NOT plug the appliance back in to the power, you could cause permanent damage to the appliance.
I don’t wish to appear rude but it is evident that merely connecting the leads as you think has not worked.
Let us know your postcode and someone should be able to help with a service visit.

Hi Karen.
If you have a no fill problem and you’ve done all the usual checks, it’s most likely you will need an engineer to correctly diagnose and rectify for you.
If you pop up your postcode, someone here should be able to help with a service visit, although it may not be until the new year now.
It’s a bummer when appliances fail at this time of year 🙁
But we have to have some time off as well 😉Dave.

ps that top grill element…with the screws showing coming through from the opposite side..ie not the heads…is that a pull out job?Nope, that one is secured from behind, ie, the screws enter the element mounting plate from the rear, which is an oven out job.
If it’s working, best left alone until it fails really 😉
If you post up the model number of the oven, I should be able to help with part numbers/prices etc for the fan element, not until Wednsesday now though.
Dave.
