ParticipantRe: Bosch Exxcel Fridge freezer not cooling fault
Well in the abscence of any reply I took a chance with this and replaced the PCB module. The Bosch KGU module is 00495141 which I managed to get for £54 delivered from Amazon. This seems to have cured the fault. In the meantimne I resoldered all the connections on the old board but the fault remained; in any case I didn’t want to take a chance with repairing it in case it failed while on holiday etc.
£54 was a risk to spend on an approximately 9 year old appliance (7.5 years ago I paid £100 for it secondhand) but in the event I figured it would be easier than me messing about sourcing a replacement and, given that it worked, was a cheap fix.
By the way putting a thermometer in the freezer with the fault showed the freezer was actually heating up to hotter than ambient. Worth noting if anyone has this fault.

ParticipantRe: ISE2- any experiences
I’m in Aylesbury. Still open to any other ideas of sub-£300 good value reliable machines! Even considering the secondhand route though I guess you never know really what you’re buying, but a nice AEG fairly locally went on eBay the other day for about 85.

Still looking before I take the plunge, has any one had experience of an ISE2? Seems you can get one for 250-280 now but love to know if it’s any good and who it’s made by. Penguin45 has put me onto Gorenje too (which I’m impressed with) so I’d love to know what would be best for max 300 out of an ISE2, Gorenje, Fagor, Baumatic or Bosch.

ParticipantRe: Around 200 pound machine
Just an update, well it came down to a choice of 2, principally on the advice of Penguin45. Either the Whirlpool AW0/D4505 1200rpm, Currys 199.95 or the Gorenje WA50140, online 213.01. In the end I chose the Gorenje on account of the 1400rpm spin and 2 year warranty, I also got it for 185. Looks a simple basic but smart machine, seems to work OK. I know this is very much bargain basement territory but it’s the budget I was given so I’ve done my best- by not getting a Servis/Haier! I think 2 years’ warranty is not to be overlooked, the machine must be at least made of half reasonable stuff. I only do about 4 loads a week in any case. So so far I would recommend Gorenje, though the outer drum does seem to be plastic despite what P45 said!

No I haven’t, I’m after 2 machines, a 200 pound for my landlord and a 300 pound for myself. Just wondered here if for near enough 200 you’d recommend Whirlpool or Gorenje. Other threads pertain to my machine, whether an ISE2 is any good or if I could get a stainless drum, and the debate about hot fill. Othewise I’ve enquired about repairring an old Philco that’s mine if I can do anything with it. Sorry if you think I’ve started too many threads but I considered them all discrete questions. Thanks for your advice. Regards Tom.

Thanks for that, but you’ve added Gorenje into the mix, which I wouldn’t have considered (or heared of!). The WA50140 and WA50120 seem to be available online for about 215 delivered. Would this be a better bet than a Whirlpool?
