Ok so could that be the source of the fault rather than the pump

Cant see how I can have made matters worse by simply unscrewing the 2 screws on the grey downpipe from back of inside machine and removing bits of paper floating underneath

What concerns me is the state of what I gather is the pressure chamber in the water .heat exchange tank on the side

Grrrrrrrrr

Cant imagine the thinking that went into putting that machine together
Talk about make it difficult for repairmen to get at parts they must really curse at this model

Anyway having started to check the machine logically by unscrewing bits around sump I did find some soggy paper ( must have been a label on a jam jar someone neglected to soak off first )so that could be the culprit

Have taken sides off and kick plate and plate behind it
but actually getting the drain pump out is next challenge ………….a bit of advice or link to a U tube bit would be helpful please

I understand its a bayonet fitting but I don’t do brute force and ignorance ! Heaven knows how engineers get their hands in there

It would be so easy if the dishwasher base was removable

What I did notice though was a brownish mucky looking section in the middle of the large white plastic water circulation tank / box on the side and I wonder whether this is also part of the problem

Is it possible to remove this to flush it out ?
Have taken a photo so can post a link later if that helps

Fairy liquid ……………is whats been going on for last 6 weeks
but that causes its own drawbacks

I have an even older Seimens Dishwasher that touch wood is fine
which is why she bought the one she has

The bottom line is

The machine tripped the electrics

then she got error code 15 ( need to find my original posting )
U Tube suggestion was tilt the machine as it might be an air lock

Then error code 23 appeared

I did a load of basic checks and checked pump spins inside machine

dishwasher cleaner is regularily used as is salt filled

however theres no sound from the pump and machine will not drain

Having borrowed a multimeter I will see what more I can find tonight

May still need to know exactly which Dishwashers can be relied on to work without giving trouble there must be some surely ?????

Would still appreciate just a little guidance as to how with a multi meter I check existing pump before jumping in and replacing anything
Gut feeling is it is the pump that’s faulty but would still be grateful for help even if you think mere women should not tackle such things

we all have to learn somewhere and sadly for many people money simply does not grow on trees these days

All local repairmen want £60 just to walk in the door
which neither I or daughter has

I am of course very well aware to disconnect machine from supply and not go at anything gung ho

Why is the pump on a dishwasher more difficult / complcated than one on a washing machine?

That i had no problem whatever replacing

I am trying to find someone to lend me a multimeter
meanwhile it would help if you thought larerally and attempted to be more helpful and think how you would cope in daughters shoes when theres simply no money to throw at engineers who sure as heck will only want to fit high price genuine parts as opposed to generics from whitegoods

there must be other things that can be checked without needing gizmos

funny how I had no problem getting help to repair my washing machine from that forum

sadly you clearly have not read my posting

its £45 before they even walk in the door
most times its cheaper to replace the machine assuming you have the money ………….many people simply don’t in these straightened times

I am perfectly capable of replacing parts on equipment just do not have equipment to test resistance ,,,, try being a little more helpful

Already checked pump blade moves as per instruction manual

however all started by tripping out electrics and would not drain

then error code 15. Water level too high
which she found someone on UTube suggested was airlock so tilt the machine

result of that was error code 23 which apparently means pump winding resistant

it seems this model simply has a pump not a combined heat pump

is there any way i can manage to confirm its the pump thats faulty before she bites the bullet and orders replacement and i get involved fitting it

it seems logical to me that if the machine wont drain and theres no sound of pump trying to work that its the pump thats faulty but what do you “engineers “think please

she cant afford to call in repair guy or buy a new dishwasher and has 4 kids hence why mum called on to help out

i replaced the pump in my elderly washing machine thanks to similar help on the other forum (the blades on that spun fine but would not drain )

I use the combined detergent and softener tablets and in my hot and cold fill Bosch the results are superb
Using my daughters cold fill Bosch while mine is out of action using same tablets the washing is nowhere near as good

Hence no way do I want a cold fill washing machine …….i guess the £400 i paid for my Bosch 16 years ago equates to needing a £1000 Miele now
