    Re: Eudora compact washing machine

Aha looks like they are designed for a ships galley where space is tight, hence the smaller physical size compared to the Zanussi. High price for a compact machine though 😉

I was trying to find a connection between a machine which I could only find on mainland Europe and an enquiry in the UK. Guess I was adding 2+2 and making 5 😆

    Hi

Sadly no Bendix or Tricity Bendix available now I`m afraid. the only compact washer avaiable in the UK worth it`s salt is the Zanussi ZWC1300C which is the modern version of your old Bendix.

The Eudora compact is marketed in Germany and Austria by the looks of it. Sadly not available in the UK that I am aware of.

Out of curiosity whereabouts are you?

Moved thread to washing machine forum 😉

A couple of trade suppliers have some motors in stock along with all the parts you mention 😉

    Hi

American versions appeared first then the Koreans like Samsung, Daewoo and LG copied them to produce them far cheaper. Resulting in failure and repair issues which can be found in numerous threads in this forum.

If your`e budget is under a grand and you want a reliable quality product you will probably not find it in a Korean clone. Best to wait a little longer and keep a look out for any clearance deals on old “American ” ones.

A peek at our guide on American side by side refrigeration is a good read.

    Hi

You could try the UKW shop. An email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk should get the ball rolling.

Re: buying robust freestanding electric cooker

    Hi

It`s well known that the solid hobs while more durable than ceramic are slower in reaction time but are well suited to slow simmering cooking and are a lot cheaper to replace should they fail. Ceramic top hobs have a faster response time are more controllable but are more costly to replace. It`s impact damage which can break the glass top like a saucepan being dropped. Cost to replace circa £200 for the glass plus labour and VAT so may be a good idea for a contents insurance policy to be in place 😉

As for the rust then yes moisture has to be present for rust to form, our old President which was about 25 years old went rusty around the door edges on both ovens and the lower oven outer frame, which when you consider how much steam is generated over the years I`m not surprised.

It`s well known that the quality of products nowadays is not as good as it was in the 70`s etc, unless you are prepared to pay big bucks to get a quality appliance. With consumers wanting cheaper prices, more and more appliances are made to price points to satisfy consumer whims and fancies. Manufacturers then have to rely on volume sales and increased market share in order to pay dividend payments to it`s shareholders. That`s the modern world whether we like it or not.

If this is a 60cm wide cooker you are after with the glass hob top or otherwise known as ceramic cooker with double oven then there is the Indesit KD6C35W which comes in under £400. It`s not the best quality in the world, doors are a little tinny as are the shelves and side panels. To achieve the same quality as the Tricity President you would need to up the budget to around £550 with one of the new Hotpoint machines like the HUE62P or the Belling FSE60DO.

It really comes down to budget and the type of tenants you have as to what would be appropriate to go for.
