ModeratorDepartment stores like Debenhams and Dingles had their own in store electrical depts with Comet buying up the Debenhams ones back in the 80’s. there was also Rumbelows as well.
Things on the retail side for me was the first vacuum cleaner at £199 the Dyson DC01 went through our allocation of 25 in the first few days of release and by the end of the first week had pre orders for over 50!! Candy were with Kelvinator back then.
At the white goods electrical dept at Homeworld I managed we had 8 manufacturer appointed demonstrators.
Integrated appliances were starting to make inroads against the freestanding market with MFI as a major player.
Asko with their floating drum machines (the 1600 series) and priced at the £800 mark sold well. Philips Whirlpool merged in the late 80’s and by the mid 90’s were major players in the sector. Hostess trolleys made a comeback especially the real wood models in light oak or dark brown finishes. Kitchen Aid
We had the Istel ordering system for home deliveries with virtually all brands participating. Then there was DASA, NESN and RETRA.

ModeratorHave recently installed a Kenwood dishwasher in our daughters and son in law new cafe. I have to say I am impressed by the build, wash quality and ease of use for the price point of £300.
Beko and Blomberg are basically the same as they both come under the same umbrella, bells and whistles along with guarantee length may vary, that could be worth a deeper look. Neff is all integrated appliances which leaves you with Bosch and Siemens.
Nowadays due to the builds not being as good as they used to be I would go with a machine that has a good guarantee and as I am a firm believer in Bosch that is where I would be spending my money.
HNY 🙂

ModeratorThis cooker has a 3 button timer, there is an option of “dur” in the instructions on pages 25 and 26 which relates to cooking timer on and duration I’m guessing it is in this mode. There isn’t anything else I can find which relates to demo.
Link for instructions https://documents.4rgos.it/v1/static/4496713_R_D001 Gives you a start anyway.

ModeratorYes it will need to be repaired by a Gas safe registered engineer.
From your description it sounds like the spark generator needs replacing, without seeing it I may be wrong.

ModeratorSadly that wasn’t the level of service I received when I collected a fridge a couple of weeks ago. We were kept waiting for over ten minutes as no one appeared to help. It took a further five minutes for someone to find our fridge. When we asked why the delay we were told he was on a break and sadly no one wanted to cover him. Not good management at store level.
On a positive note that is Exeter High St on the video right at the end. 😀

ModeratorThere are two old posts on here from 2009 and 2015 which were not answered on this very topic. I could find nothing in the instruction manual I looked at, there are quite a few versions so would need the PNC number of the label to be sure.
Google search gives a possible solution, search “how to take AEG B8871-4-M out of test mode”.

ModeratorLooking on Miele spares even the WQ1000 at over 2k has a sealed tank. There is no part number available, I guess it’s price prohibited . 😮

ModeratorNone that I am aware of I’m afraid.
On a positive note I would look at AEG, Zanussi (same company) along with Hotpoint and Rangemaster.

ModeratorAEG, Bosch and Miele if you can push the budget.
Some good reads on heat pumps can be found https://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/help/buying-advice/tumble-dryers

ModeratorTo start the tech on heat pump dryers has improved over the last five years.
Yes they do take longer to dry but they are also a lot cheaper to run. You have to ask yourself which which do you prefer if the answer is the quickest then ask D & G for some suggestions for a condenser dryer. Back on heat pump the Miele TWD640WP at over 1k is a steal and should be seriously considered. They are renowned for being one of the market leaders in white goods. However they are a little hesitant when it comes to sharing service info and spare parts if needed can be more expensive.
If you decide not to go with paying out then I would probably pick the Bosch.

ModeratorThe cookers we had were Vestel made but that was a few years ago now. Price point was good for the rental market.
